I reckon if he goes very well in NSW Cup he will replace Goodwin in Round 23. Goodwin has improved but still not as good as Auva'a was last year.

That's a fair point too, Madge isn't afraid to make the hard decisions imo.

Goodwin was sitting in the stands last year during the finals series and if Souths are to have any chance this season then Goodwin must be in the stands again come finals time. Decent fill in player for injuries and suspensions but that is it as James Roberts showed in the Gold Coast game

Madge will do what he thinks is best.

We will just have to wait and see.

Roberts has been showing lots of guys up with his speed so I think your comparison is a bit harsh.

The North Sydney Bears recorded their second draw of the season against Mounties on Saturday –the teams fighting out a `34 all draw at North Sydney Oval in Round 17.

Norths led late in the match, but were unable to hold on against a fast-finishing Mounties side who managed two converted tries in the final 10 minutes to draw level.

The match saw the successful return of centre Kirisome Auva’a, who capped off his return with a second half try.

Mounties got their day underway by drawing first blood of the afternoon after just five minutes. But Bears fullback Latrell Schaumkel would put the red and blacks back on level pecking with a four-pointer of his own at the 15 minute mark along with Darren Nicholls’ conversion.

It was a case of tit for tat in the 24th minutes when Mounties went in for their second to make it 10-6, but it would again be Schaumkel who would claw the Bears back to 10 apiece, before scoring a third and by the 35th minute, Darren Nicholls was adding a converted try of his own to the ledger to make the score 22-10 leading in to half-time.

On the resumption, five-eighth Cody Walker added his name to the score-sheet just nine minutes into the second stanza. Nicholls was unable to convert, although a later penalty goal would see the Bears reach 28 points.

With the Bears looking well in control, Mounties mounted a come-back to get themselves within four points of the lead with 10 minutes in the match remaining courtesy of two tries.

But in the 70th minute, Auva’a struck out wide to seemingly all but seal the match at 34-22. Mounties however would have the final say of the match, with two converted tries finishing proceedings at 34 apiece.

Bears 34 (Latrell Schaumkel 3, Cody Walker, Kirisome Auva'a, Darren Nicholls tries; Nicholls 5 goals)

Mounties 34 (Gus Aiga 2, Chevi Ellis, Bill Tupou, Stuart Mills, Jeremy Hawkins tries; Mitch Cornish 5 goals)

Noted with interest a Norths signing coming back from a long injury layoff from feb this year who played with Luke Keary , Aussie school boys with Carter & Grevsmul at RM for Asquith trent jennings , scored a try and set up one. Whilst i know its down the ladder abit in quality of competition , but could be a good back up for Norths coming up if he plays into form .189 cm 102kgs centre especially when Aauvo goes to NRL . Thoughts ???

Don't know anything about him but he does sound like a possibility, how is he for pace, can he break tackles, what's his style of play?

Must be a high tackle.

Any news on grading/weeks on sideline of the charge?

Two weeks they say.

Does this mean anything to you?

169 Auva'a, Kirisome 4/07/2015 17 North Sydney NSW Cup 1 min Striking 2 Guilty - Early plea No 2 202 + 45 =247 200 47

Ok thanks.

So grade 2 striking. Incident happened in the 1st min.

Early plea 202 points and if he fights and loses 247 points. If he fights it and loses he will have 47 carry over points.

Auva'a will probably take the early guilty plea.

It's not ideal at all being only his first match back.

Thanks again Southsport.
