I am a Bears fan and I agree with you, any license should be 50/50 after the Northern Eagles debacle, I am not a fan of Pasifika because if there is a change of Government in PNG or Aust can they just shut it down due to lack of funds.

Unfortunately the Bears totally disagree with you, and have reiterated that fact over and over for 20 years at this point.

Besides, the Bears aren't discussing a merger with anybody, and aren't really interested in a merger. So whom exactly are they going to split ownership with? Themselves?!

This deal doesn't really have any impact on their bid or NRL expansion, but it does give the Bears a stay of execution in the NSW Cup.

Their participation in the NSW Cup wasn't sustainable without an NRL affiliate, and it was only a matter of time before they would have been forced to drop out unless the competition was restructured to make independent clubs more financially viable.

So it's pretty irrelevant to NRL expansion, but it's a good thing that they were able to find a partner.
