The only thing I like about winter, apart from footy and more red wine than is usually acceptable, is dark beer. Picked up a case of Coopers Dark Ale. Happy man.

Went to First Choice last night to get a few for today.

You'd think the bottle shops were being shut down for a week carpark was chockers blokes carry out boxes of beer on both shoulders.

Got a 6 pack of Boags for 10 bucks not a bad drop.

The way Boag's Draught has failed to take off on tap in my area is astonishing. I entered a Boag's Draught Melbourne cup day draw (buy a beer get an entry) and I was literally the only name in the barrel. Now up at Nth Richmond they're $3 a schooner trying to move them so they can get another beer in and I'm STILL the only one buying them. It's beautiful!

Does it surprise Aussies that Coopers has taken off in NZ ?

Coopers 6 packs cost less in NZ than in Australia. I was over there in Feb and they were $13 a 6 pack. Considering mainstream beer is 4% and complete shite I'm not surprised.

I'm going to make a big claim here. Moorefield Bowling Club, best Reschs going around today.

I had a few Reschs at the Hellenic Club the other day...somehow they managed to get a mound of head (that sounds more amazing than it is) on top of the glass. It was weird.

Robinsons Brewery "Trooper". British Golden Ale made in honour of Iron Maiden. Light and fresh, not a lot of hop bitterness but very refreshing. Be a great beer on a hot day.

Don't mind the Bronx pale ale, darker then your standard pa, but very nice.

And at 12 for a 4 pack of 470ml cans at 6.3%, it's a cheap to get smashed
