If you've got Luai at 6, not sure you need a ball player at the back - a hole runner ala DWZ would be more effective (IMO) given the space Luai can create through uncertainty in the defensive line.

Deadset Burton definitely is the brand new shiny toy / Moylan on here.

Teams have 3-4 play makers these days though

Even Tedesco the best ball runner in the game, in the best team in the game said he needs to get better at passing. It's just what Fullback's need to do.

Edwards also said it himself last year.

Looking at their try assist tally

Keary 28
Tedesco had 15.
Cronk 15
Latrell 9

our top 4

Maloney 18
Cleary 10
Luai 7
JFH 4

So we are well behind top sides

Lotsa man crushes and only played 1 NRL match at 5/8th. Imagine if he played 24 rounds of this stuff

I'd be waiting till the sharks come to the club sniffing around him, and see if he is intent to become our "saviour" or just join the rooster Ltd Pty LLC, paperbag squad

More just showing how far behind we were. I just struggle to see how anyone can’t think we need all the help we can get

Thanks for clarifying I was having a moment :joy:

CNK proved you don't need to be a great ball player to play FB. Rest of the spine made up for it. As well as game breakers like Leulia. Our back 5 offered very little in 2020. Helps having a world class player in Hodgson in their spine which we currently lack.

That changes if Burton replaces Luai. Adios to Edwards if so. Attack will be one-dimensional with too much reliance on Korisau. It's one of those guys like Laurie or Staines who plays FB if Luai fails.

It’s not just here Burton is getting rated. He just looks like a better player than Luai to some there’s nothing wrong with that. Like I said earlier if they had both been around the same amount of time it’s a pretty easy choice, conversely if Burton wasn’t showing so much potential Luai would have the spot locked up by now having patiently bided his time and built his experience.

They have Hodgson he is their 3rd playmaker. If Api kills it then a ball player back there isn’t a must but I just want Api to give great service and have others deal with ball playing

We don't want to be 2018 Souths though. Teams worked out Cook and they weren't so dangerous when it mattered at the business end of the season. Burton/Cleary are too like for like, one would have to develop into a completely different player or you make changes around them starting at fullback.

Thank god we bought Korisau though. He is going to have to do some heavy lifting in 2020 if we want to compete in attack.

The reason I want a ball player back there is for that reason. Have the halves. Hooker and fullback. Kikau to steamroll players. Naden and Crichton to be kicking targets plenty of strike then

Kikau Is being rested tomorrow and won't play well at least he will be a certain starter for rd 1.Hopefully the boys play well and theres no injuries i dont care.if we don't get the win as it's only a trial but it is parra so come on boys try and knock them off.

Kiks was slightly injured in the WT trial and came off as a precaution. This off week will give him more time.

Kikau didn't play in the tigers trial he was rested so he must have picked up a slight injury either in the 9s or at training.

Don't you mean the "Rooster Pty Ltd LLC, Paperbag Golf Club", or the "R.P.L.L.L.C.P.G.C."?
