Ben Hunt requests release from the Drags

These stats don't account for 2 point field goals. Cleary for example has 1, so only actually 14.

Also, for Cleary, 5 of his 14 are in games won by more than 10 points, so not exactly clutch moments.
A: 2 point field goals are worth twice as much and harder to kick so should count for more here.
B: some of those would’ve been at the end of halves when a fg was the only points on offer, either way it’s still a smart thing to do as it ensures the team have their field goal setups well practices for when they’re needed. So they still count.

Talking shit or not

A) Townsend to Dragons to reunite with Flanagan - Hunt to Cowboys with also an additional forward not in top 21 at cowboys going to Dragons as well. However Townsville is further away from Brisbane than Sydney is - so I don’t think this will happen

Or

B) Townsend to Dragons - 2 out of the 3 combo of Weaver, Boyd and Sexton to Cowboys - Hunt to Titans. Considering what Titans just did randomly with Hasler and the timing of Hunts request for a release I believe this is happening. Plus Titans will have Brimson, Campbell and the remaining 1 of 3 in Boyd/Sexton/Weaver to cover for Foran/Hunt once they retire/get injured. Also Hunt to call quits on Origin this year after game 3.

My feel is that Flanno is just playing stubborn so he can get some players in return. Doesn’t want to give up Hunt for nothing which is fair enough.

Two years left, two years left
Two years left, two years left

Two years left, two years left
Want to walk out with two years left
Of the club, what a captain
Yes you're a coward, so please f**k off
And keep texting to buzz that line
Can you game manage for just one time?
And it's your name that's on that contract
So call your agent and I'll call you a cab

After Hook gets the arse
Saying the management are fools
Talking 'bout how you can't do another rebuild
You're so full of shit

You just want more money
You just want more money
I can have another halfback in a minute
Who can win it in the last minute, Benny

You just want more money
You just want more money
I could have Bud in here by tomorrow
He can kick field goals

Does anyone besides Dragons fans actually blame Hunt for wanting out of that club?

In a way he's like a union rep for the Dragons players demanding that management do a better job. In the long run his stand may actually benefit his team mates.

Newton argued clubs often look to offload players mid-contract when they want to go in a different direction, which is essentially what Hunt is trying to do by returning to Queensland for family reasons.

“He has given great service and wants to go home to Queensland. He’s put his heart and soul into the club but he’s clearly disappointed with the club’s direction.

“His performances speak volumes for his character. In a volatile environment, he’s been their star performer.

“He is well within his rights to ask questions about the direction of the club. Clearly there is an issue he wants resolved.

So which is it Clint? He's homesick or upset about the direction the club is going? And if the issue he has was resolved, would his family suddenly not matter to him?

It's weird. I empathise with Dragons fans thinking he's a cat but I also kind of empathise with Hunt?

He's not a million dollar player, but that's not his fault l. He's pretty much been the only merkin trying for St George for a long time and probably the only one who stayed around. The club is an absolute disaster and I can understand why a bloke towards the end of his career can't see any future there that's enjoyable

He put pen to paper for the extra years though.

Him wanting out now means that any succession planning that would been done if he had moved on then didn't happen.

In his defence any succession plan by the Dragons would just be which former player's relative they could bring in.

The way that Fox Sports is holding water for there buddy Flanagan in this is hilarious.

Frankly, as a player or a club I wouldn't want to be associated with someone of such questionable character as Flanagan. And this side of the story is getting zero airtime.

Fox are talking about ethics and morals and yet virtually every week they write an article urging a club to release a player for spurious reasons.

Last season they wrote article after article on why Jason Taumalolo should be released by the Cowboys to the Dolphins or another club.

Oh look I'm defs not saying he's a saint either. But even with the extra years, he signed on with a coach he enjoyed playing for (regardless of how shit Hook is) and the expectation that coach would be around.

Then he got sacked less than a year later. Now obviously he should have been sacked IMO anyway, and Hunt might have even stayed after that for all we know, but then you had the absolute f**king clown show way the Dragons handled the sacking. And then the even bigger clown show with the interviews. And then their first pick pulling out just as they were set to send him a contract...

I can just see why he might have had enough.

Fair point, however he signed a multi million dollar 2 year extension a few months ago. Has his homesickness only kicked in, towards the end of his 6th year?

Joe Ofahengaue was moved on from a club just a few months into a multi year contract - kinda the same thing but the club calling the shots and there was no outcry?
