The NRL Salary Cap auditor has come out and said that Bunt can't be offered less than $900k. That surely rules out most clubs? Yes, it's a circus for sure.

I can just picture Bunt coughing on his bowl of cornflakes when his manager rang him up with the bad news.

Just like his outbursts last year, it would be extremely difficult for anyone to cruel their career so badly without a horrific off field incident.

He was faced with several options to achieve what he thought would make him happy and each time he gets it wrong.

He was just too stupid to be SGI captain and at the end of the day, the process of natural selection sorted him out!

He survived for a few extra years by hiding himself underground with Lomax bringing him grubs from the forest.

Bunt is like a wildlife documentary at this point. Endangered species too!

Yep. Hunt might consider suing his agent. I hope he kept all of his emails and text messages.

Seriously.
Yep.

Bunt made his decision sometime after his dressing down by Flanno after the review.

His feelings were hurt that Flanno didn’t think he was living up to his price tag.

It must have been a shellacking like no other, reached deep into Bunts heart and tore it out. Made him feel ordinary and small. He wanted the floor to swallow him up.

When Bunt crawled out from the meeting he undoubtedly swore a personal oaf that he’d never talk to or play for SGI again.

Texts his agent, who wanted to please his client and told him he’d be ok to go back on the frolic and start his bad humour again.

Then Bunt rings his mates and starts the next round of white anting….

I think the decision was Hunts, that’s the agents defence.

$900k ÷ 12 = $75k
NRL Contract Goes from Nov 1st till Oct 31st.
NRL will take into account as to when he actually signs the contract and pro rata the contract,.
So for example if he agrees on a salary of $700k with the bullgrubs/donkeys they may agree to sign the contact in February, bringing down the value from $900k to $700k or thereabouts, so this may take a while to be sorted, also i wouldn't be surprised if the NRL also devalues the contract by a certain % due to age of the player.

Hunt would have to agree to this. I can't see him wanting to wait if he loses 75k per month.

Pretty much it. Also clubs can pay a contract forward if they have salary cap deficit for their upcoming season, although i'm not 100% on the amounts they can carry forward.

Out of all of this though it is miraculous we managed to shed Hunt without having to pay him out/chip in.

he will have no choice, clubs will wait, no one will pay him $900k, they will wait till January/February before a contract is signed, you have to remember he isnt due back to training till January sometime due to him playing for Australia, he will get his 8 weeks or so weeks off..

they will surely find a way to pay him the 2x75k or whatever he loses in some payment post-retirement, or some investment opportunity.. he still comes out in front though if he gets a 2yr deal versus if he had stayed with us for example, that was probably his last contract.

Tearing strips off him at the review, are not the actions of a coach who is afraid he might leave.

And intense talks with Gutho the very same day Hunt falls on his toothpick.

Im not saying Flanno wanted him gone, but the evidence seems to be he wasn’t happy with him and given his past record, would have seen another feral dummy spit as a distinct possibility, if not likely.

I think he was relieved that Hunt sacked himself. He didn’t do too much to save him at the end there.

Flanno said afterwards that the club wasn’t going to be held to ransom by one player and he meant it.

Basically made an example of Hunt, embarrassed and humiliated him.

Made his prospects dimmer at other clubs in the process.

A long overdue come-uppance.

Whoever signs him -deserves to suffer for giving him a chance. Tough but fair ladies!
