The only care I have in what Hunt does is that wherever he goes, it will probably shake a potential Dragons signing loose. Maybe Sexton asks for a release and Flanno snaps him up. Sexton would be just the right tonic for us. He is an excellent game manager, has a brilliant short and medium kicking game, can kick field goals and knows how to unleash his ferraris. Excellent link as he will take on the line with supports either side. This might have been what Flanno meant. Maybe he knew that Hunt was going to the bulldogs

I heard that the NRL have come out and said that Hunt cannot get offered less that 800 or 900k. Anything less and the contract will not be registered.
It will take some mental gymnastics to work this one out. So, if a player scores a jackpot once in their career it sets a floor under their remuneration until they retire? Even when the player repeatedly requested to be released from his jackpot contract? Fascinating.

I don't think it's that. I think it's a case that he had a contract for $1M that he walked away from, and therefore that's his current worth for 2025 in terms of the salary cap. Ben Hunt has screwed himself by taking far too much money from St George last contract. Not many clubs will have a spare million in their salary cap for a player with his shelf life and use-by date.

I am sure he will end up somewhere but this just goes to show his real value. He will be expecting too much coin, just as he always has. Not a big time club player at all. The media always liked to rave about how the Dragons were the ones letting Hunt down, on the field or at the negotiation table. They have gone quiet now that his true worth as a player is showing.

I was reading that article about Bunt and the dogs.

Whats happened is that he’s approached them to speak to Gus and Ciraldo and find out if there is any room at the inn.

He has yet another swing at SGI on the way through (of course) citing his desire to play for a team with a gf chance. A grubby thing to say.

He met with them etc but they are apparently going to “call him back” or something along those lines.

I’m not sure if he understands it but ciraldo has the reputation of being a pretty brutal coach.

There’s still the Broncos gig or whatever, so I’m thinking he’s on the prowl hedging his bets as the options falter.

If he was smart, he would’ve had another club lined up before he went all Latrell. Instead he’s become some kind of footy whore.

The dogs can only offer him $400k less and he’s turned up. Just no shame this guy.

I’m enjoying the circus myself.

From a team morale perspective, he’d be too much of a distraction for the dogs. Plus he’s a tad disruptive.
