Ben Ikin walks from Channel Nine over ACA story

I have first hand knowledge of how the scum reporters and producers at ACA work. My wife was involved in a minor scandal last year and ACA approached her to do an interview. We thought it would be a good idea to get the truth of the incident out in the open. The interview went well and we thought it would be a positive story from our point of view. Anyway when it aired we nearly had a coronary, it seemed ACA had also interviewed the person we were in dispute with and had turned the story into an attack on my wife! They were very selective in editing what she had said in the interview and often cut off her responses before she could fully explain her position on the matter. ACA are corrupt and biased toward making a more SENSATIONAL and CONTROVERSIAL mountain out of a molehill. They have a team who trawl the internet and local news sites for any kind of drama or incident that they can exploit for ratings. :x

Have you never heard the expression "edited for truth"

All media outlets push stories from their own point of view.

There's no such thing as "two sides to every story" unless the opposition on the other channel decide to push that angle.

Remember the Shapelle / Mercedes Corby thing that went to air a year or so ago? You had Channel 7 and Channel 9 apparently telling exactly the same story - one took the side of Mercedes, the other took the point of view that she was scum.

Same story - yet two completely one sided biased reporting making the same people on the one hand saints and on the other sinners.

If you're ever invited to give an interview for anything, do so in the understanding that anything you say may be taken out of context and used against you.

Yes, your drawl suggests you are one of minimal happiness.

You can see a drawl in that post?

Good trick, considering that a drawl is verbal...

I'm sure the people around you in real life are quite familiar with the term. When you ask them, they'll just point to you.

Take it as a hint.

resident gimp said:
I am firstly sorry for you.

Not 1/2 as sorry as I am for you.

resident gimp said:
You probably consider suicide often yourself, given you do most of your talking online.

Sure, 31k equates to 15 posts per day, most of which are short, sharp replies which probably equate to less than an hour per day, on average.

I'll just assume I sleep for the other 23 1/2 hours then, on average, shall I?

resident gimp said:

There's a joke somewhere here about post number equating to penis size, where you're concerned, that isn't a joke.

resident gimp said:
Therein lies your problem.

31k posts is my problem?

Well Willow must be f**ked then...

resident gimp said:
I hope my post is not the one that puts the bullet in your head.

So, you think a post of yours has the capability of pushing someone to suicide?

Call me strange but about the best you'd push someone to is a coma.

resident gimp said:
You will most likely have a come back which hints that you are not phased by any of this. So what.

Bingo.

The closest thing to intelligent you've ever posted here.

resident gimp said:
The sharp tongue you have is no indication of a keen mind.

We need to talk. You have a problem with knowing what an online forum is.

I don't have a sharp tongue here, I don't talk in this forum verbally and I certainly don't type with my tongue.

Can you work it out from there?

resident gimp said:
And guess what: I've seen people like you in my lifetime, but I've had to pay admission.

The glory hole rumours about me are completely untrue.

And if you're paying, you're going to the wrong bogs.

resident gimp said:
So keep talking, one day you'll say something intelligent....

And on that happy day, it'll still be one intelligent thing more than you're ever posted.

resident gimp said:
...and pal....learn from your parents mistakes....use birth control.

It's a pity you weren't left on someone's shirt at the glory hole. Still, you might get hit by a bus...

resident gimp said:
oh yeah, if you need help with any of this...dont go to a mind reader (shrink), go to a palmist, i know you've got a palm....

So, a shrink is a mind-reader to you?

Explains a lot...

resident gimp said:
but anyway, its all just dandy for you hey

Dandy?

FFS... LOL

resident gimp said:
....No one will ever know that you've had a lobotomy, if you wear a wig to hide to the scars and learn to control the slobbering.

2004 is gone champ.

For real..?? Is it Ch10 in Sydney making the call only or national? I'm a little surprised they haven't blamed the huge increase in the number of cases in Victoria on the NRL yet, but give them time.....

As for ACA, haven't watched that show for around 10 years and when I did it usually ended with me supporting the "scandalous" subject of their report.......

Not sure? It was the morning edition with Ron Wilson i saw, similar script to lastnight's sport report on their 5pm news.

They even questioned people as to whether swine flu would stop them attending, none of which said it would. But there was no mention whatsoever of AFL matches in melbourne and the chance of catching it at one of their matches even though it's the same city.

FORMER Queensland State of Origin star Ben Ikin has stormed out of Channel Nine only hours before he was supposed to be commentating on tonight's showdown in Melbourne.
A furious Ikin phoned Nine’s director of sport Steve Crawley early this afternoon to resign from all his commentary duties.

Ikin is the second member of Nine's commentary team to be missing tonight following the standing down of colleague Matthew Johns last month after the NRL group sex scandal.

Ikin, who is the son-in-law of super coach Wayne Bennett, is angry that Channel Nine’s A Current Affair is doing an investigation tonight into a business owned by his father on the Gold Coast.
Ikin, who could not be contacted, has been a commentator on Nine for several years and is highly regarded by station management.

Steve Crawley confirmed Ikin had quit but refused to comment, other than saying, “”At this stage I’m just concentrating on getting the telecast right for tonight.’’

While the principle of why he walked out shows how f**ked Nine is, I'm more than happy that I won't be hearing his mindless rubbish tonight.

I wont miss him , but good on him for walking out!

ACA might hide behind the guise they are indepedent as they are part of nines news division but we all no its nothing more than trash.

And attacking one of their own commentators in some sleezy grab for ratings off the back of the state of origin is a disgrace.

Seriously, just saw an ad for a current affair tomorrow and the leading story was "state of origin scandal", some bullsh*t about ben ikins family business being dodgy or something.

obviously it's a nothing story, and has nothing to do with league, but that is their lead in to the state of origin coverage. what the hell are they thinking???????????
Don't know why people are complaining, this is great news!

f**k off Ikin you contradictary, dyslexic f**king moron. Your rugby league nous is on a par with a 3 legged chair.

He had the nerve earlier in the year to criticise Brett Stewart over his drinking and related incident.

"His eyes lit up like dinner plates"

f**k OFF!!!
