Ben Kennedy is a disgraceful dog

'Nuff said.

(NOTE: This thread was originally titled "Ben Kennedy is a disgraceful coward" but was changed to "dog" because some people disagree that when you lay down for a penalty instead of getting up and having a fight, that coward is an applicable word)

damn straight. was the biggest load of horseradish I have ever seen.

damn straight, the most blatant lay down I have ever seen. 30 seconds later he was fine with no ill effects whatsoever. for a bloke who everyone praises for being so tough and blah blah blah, he sure took a pat on the cheek harshly.

So what?

How do you know he wasnt momentarily stunned by it? None of us know for sure.

Its all well and good for you to come here behind your keyboard and call a state of origin player a coward, but the truth is you'd still be down is Crocker wacked you around the throat last night!

A couple of things to me seemed to make me think other wise -

1/ he dropped the ball on hitting the ground, most would instintively hang on to it
2/ When Ross tried to drag him up, his arms were loose like a rag doll, meaning he could have still been knocked out.

But we'll never know will we ;-)

Not for certain no.

But hey, that's no reason for a keyboard hero to call a state of origin and international backrower a coward, is it?

First of all he didn't drop the ball. A Queenslander took the ball from him. And secondly how hard do you think it is to let your arms hang loose.

I seem to remember someone from here trying to punch the lights out of someone else from here who both happen to support the same team, the former having a distinct physical advantage over the latter.

Ben Kennedy a coward?.........I don't think so.

I don't believe he took a dive on the grounds that it was so easy for the QLD player to take the ball from him. If he took a dive, he still would have made sure he held on to the ball in case the video ref didn't rule in his favour and it was play on.

I'm just really struggling with the concept that a player, especially a forward, can play how many tests and state of origins and be called a coward? We are talking about rugby league right? you dont reach those heights by being a 'coward'

and isnt this the same ben kennedy that ripped our forwards to pieces in a certain grand final? Christ he played good that night.

He was an integral part of NSW winning the series.

I don't understand where he is coming from.

This is what is wrong with the rule. A player can do it. Weather Kennedy did or didn't dive is up for debate.

In big games, players are going to do that to get a penalty. Penalties in games like that are crucial. It's in the rules so why not stay down and cop the penalty I spose.

It's going to become more and more common while the rule is like it is. Soft, disgraceful, coward or whatever, if it's there, take it. After all it's about playing by the rules and winning the game.

how is diving different from a player who might try and milk a penalty around the play the ball by fumbling it to make it look stolen and dont tell me that doesnt happen. Its just different players using different rules to their advantage.

Or getting up trying to claim a try and bluff the ref when you know you didn;t ground it...

It is all the same fishy, you're right.

Look, I'm not trying to take away from his other achievements. Generally he has been an excellent player who has represented NSW and Aust very well.

However, last night was 100% a dive. There is absolutely no doubt about it. Limp arms my arse, when Ross dragged him up and then dropped him he didn't drop back on to his face but instead held himself up from the ground with his arms (which by the way still had the ball). 30 seconds later he was fine.

Mick Crocker is damned tough, I won't deny that, and a shot from him would hurt like hell (and no doubt that shot copped him around the chin), but it cannot be denied - it was a dive. The dive of all dives. Divo Supremo. And thats a dog act.

And Suity, the incident you are referring to eludes me. Obviously you're talking about something I did, which is cool, but I just can't remember who the other person was. Care to satiate my curiosity, dude?

I wouldn't call him a coward but I reckon his integrity comes under question.

In my view it was gamesmanship and I bet any money Crocker probably would have done the same if the roles were reversed.

I will go on record by saying, at the time, I wished Ben Ross just started unloading on his stupid bald head...mighta got us back in the game!!!!

Exactly what it was. And it wasn't outside the rules. Play to win I say.
