I'm pretty sure tours don't make Bon Jovi a good band. What is their type of music called again? Crap rock? No. Wuss rock, that's it.

I reckon this has to be the funniest thing i've ever heard, i mean calling Bon Jovi "Wuss rock" and then admitting to being a huge Ben Lee fan:lol:

Then what type of rock would Ben Lee be? just look at him and his songs:lol:

You make it sound like Ben Lee is some sort of bad ass:lol:

It was actually c**k rock or arena rock.....get it right!

Bon Jovi are in the same group at Nickelback, Matchbox 20, etc etc.
Bland music for commercial FM.

And then what is Ben Lee's music?.....Headbangers ball music

Is Have a Nice Day and It's My Life the same song?
Obviously not.....read the lyrics.....then check the record sales of where both songs peaked in the US charts.

A work of art.

Wow their must be over 100 million people keeping quiet:lol:
You should take that advice and apply it to yourself if listening to Ben Lee is anything to go by.

'a gift from god', that's right buddy, so you better keep the faith!!

cos' I'm going down in a blaze of glory!!!:music1: :music1:

Sorry, at what point did I say I was a HUGE Ben Lee fan? I said his last two albums were good and he is a good Australian indie artist.
Bon Jovi played at Rumba didn't they? Enough said really.

No, but at least it's not bland middle of the road crap that all sounds the same.

So was there heaps of "metal" people watching Bon Jovi at the Rumba festival?
How could you even say Bon Jovi have "metal" fans, it's quite funny really.

Didn't have too, anyone that has brought Ben Lee's last 2 albums must be huge fans because normal people wouldn't waste $30 on sh*t.

I don't know, did they? so whats your point?.....they've also played at some of the worlds biggest arena's.

No, but at least it's not bland middle of the road crap that all sounds the same.

And Ben Lee's sh*t isn't bland and doesn't sound the same?...please!!!!.

And it just shows how good Bon Jovi are if for their age are still belting out hits, it just shows they've survived the longevity of the music industry where others haven't.

So was there heaps of "metal" people watching Bon Jovi at the Rumba festival?

How would i know?....i don't know every single one of them, you know more about the event then i do.

Because i'm a metal fan like others who like it.

Anything would good electric & vocals is.

ron, you can't talk about 'knowing how to write songs' when you consider some of the brainless dribbling sh*t that you listen to!

No offense, but the lyrics in thrash 80s music is hardly note worthy

You seem to have wasted more than $30 on Bon Jovi albums so is that not a waste of money? Also why is playing at big arenas and being in the charts make a good band? Surely if you're a "metal" fan you would know there have been some great bands that have never had much commercial success.

Just personally if I had any Bon Jovi albums in my collection they would be right at the bottom, hidden away with the dodgy old Offspring albums I bought when I was younger.

I agree, however their was other elements to 80's music i listened to which made them brillant......guitar, vocals, drums etc

I've never said that bands like Ratt, Motely Crue had the best of lyrics....but i will say none of them had worse then Ben Lee's current bubble gum hit.

Ben Lee is regarded by many in the Australian Music industry as " one of our best songwriters" thats my arguement, he's sh*t!!.....what does that make good Aussie bands such as Midnight Oil feel?

Moffo do you play guitar, drums or sing? if not i suggest you try and learn to play some those 80's songs then learn to play some Ben Lee ( won't take long) you'll be surprised how complex the 80's song actually where.

No, they play good music & have done that for over 20 years, can't say the same for Ben Lee.

Also why is playing at big arenas and being in the charts make a good band? Surely if you're a "metal" fan you would know there have been some great bands that have never had much commercial success.

Just shows the audience they reach, and lets face it.....how many rock artists nowdays actually chart?

I'm fully aware that some haven't made it, like W.A.S.P Crimson Idol....an absolute master piece, so why didn't it chart well you may say? well maybe because it was released 5 years to late...when grunge had bombarded the airwaves and changed the face of music.....if that album was released in say 88 as opposed to 93 then it would've recieved the recongition it deserved, the difference now being is that Ben Lee is releasing is garbage at the right time...20 years ago he wouldn't of even made it to a recording session.

Just personally if I had any Bon Jovi albums in my collection they would be right at the bottom, hidden away with the dodgy old Offspring albums I bought when I was younger.

I thought the old Offspring was their best? "Smash" imo is their best & most complete album ever.

Ben Lee is possibly the most untalented, Uninspired successfull musician to grace the earth. The fact he won an ARIA is evidence of the state of Aussie Music.

The bottom line is, the Aussie public are becoming less and less musically educated, and increasingly influenced by the media and other people.

Brett Lee has more musical talent than Ben Lee.

I can't believe Binger did not win an ARIA.

The fact that little curly headed bore box did is proof that a roll of toilet paper has more worth than an ARIA.

Okay, some real anomolies in this thread.

First of all - Bon Jovi were once great but are now sh*t. That's just the way it is. They've gone down the same road as Metallica and lost the plot.

Also, as much as I loved the Gunners I'm not overly excited about anything Axl does. They were far from the most talented of c**k rock bands.

However, they both still sh*t on Ben Lee.

Panthers God, what the f**k do you mean stop living in the past? Are you suggesting that people should stop listening to music once it reaches a certain age? That's just ludicrous. Great music is great music - age will never change that. I tell you what - Zeppelin are superior in every way to any band mentioned on this thread and they've been deceased as a band for 25 years.

And as Space Monkey said - how did 80s Thrash suddenly come into the conversation?

Moffo - the bands named here are not thrash, they're c**k/glam rock. Thrash bands include Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Testament. If you're going to argue a point, know your topic.

That is all.

He is f**king joke, he probably thinks his work is brillant....i just can't work out people like him make it in music and someone like me who has many many written songs with meaning and insight together with very good guitar player cannot??

Maybe you should post some of your own lyrics on here for comparison?

Dude, you clearly dont listen to Ben Lee's music. If you dont like the genre then whatever but its not up to you to just come to false conclusion about peoples music.

I mean Ronny should listen some of the new music being made.

I agree with this somewhat, nothing will ever beat their earlier stuff....but in comparison to Ben Lee?.....their is no comparison.

Also, as much as I loved the Gunners I'm not overly excited about anything Axl does. They were far from the most talented of c**k rock bands.

In my opinion Axl Rose was extremely talented....everything from vocalist, song writing, piano to the producing side of his music is brillant for mine.....and i hate Axl Rose.

The lyrics are nothing special but some of the music from 80's thrash bands is unbeleivable. Bands like testament, Iron Maiden, Metallica (ealry stuff) Megadeth etc were absolultley awesome musicians and their music arrangment and ideas were absolutley superb. The lyrics to the songs aren't generally of the same standard but still it doesn't take away from the fact that their musicianship is unrivalled to this day.

These guitar players and drummers would take 99% of bands these days to the cleaners there is no doubt about that.
