You can only release a player if their is someone willing to take on the player and his contract or at least part of his contract. In BMM case it seems Penrith are interested, but I dont see to many clubs that would be interested in Moltzen given his injury record and to a certain extent his playing record. As for Patterson and lulia, they are depth players at very best, we will not get rushed with offers their.

Austen is a player half the NRL would like to get their hands on and if we cant give him a regular gig in the top grade Iam sure he would be tempted to try and get a release, especially with Mosses probably being groomed for Anasta's job next year. Although it is highly unlikely the club would release him, salary cap pressures could force their hand

Patterson is only on a one year deal and we are under the cap this year so why wuld we release him, plus he provides good depth and is a great trainer, BMM is lazy and just not that good - he will be lucky to make first grade at Penrith either.

Moltzen - as you said would be on decent coin given when he signed he had numerous suitors from Rugby, Super League and NRL and that he was NRL starting fullback with great utility value, he has now had 3 reconstructions and no club would take the risk - hope he makes a come back and does well because he will be here next year or at best we will still be paying him significant money to play elsewhere

Lulia is a good back uo centre, solid defenseivley and a good solid centre - not many clubs have his quality in NSW cup backing up and given Lawrences injury record that is somethng we need

To be fair I think the club have done well with the players they have "released".
I haven't always agreed at the time with how it was done though....
Fafita aside I can't think of one that has gone on to stardom with another club in recent years.

While BMM did most of his work behind a struggling pack, his contribution has not reached Gavet's level.
We simply cannot keep everyone. And I'm sure we will have some great kids still to come.
This group of talented Islander guys are the elder children of the first real "wave" of Polynesian/Islander immigration. They all have plenty more kids to come !

Paterson is worth holding on to. Has a great fend and loves an offload.

We are in uncharted waters here, fella's. We have never had so many quality forwards. We can't keep them all. We are not the Roosters.

Penrith Panthers forward Ben Murdoch-Masila to re-unite with Tim Sheens at Salford
Brad Walter
Published: September 28, 2015 - 6:00PM

Ben Murdoch-Masila and Robert Lui are set to be reunited with their former Wests Tigers mentor Tim Sheens at Salford next season.
Murdoch-Masila, who has spent the past two seasons with Penrith, has agreed to a two-year deal with Salford, where Sheens is director of rugby.
A deal with Lui, who has been the back-up halfback to Johnathan Thurston at the Cowboys, is also expected to be announced in coming days after the Townsville Blackhawks' loss to Ipswich in Sunday's Queensland Cup grand final.
Sheens has a long association with the pair from their time at the Tigers, with Murdoch-Masila playing four seasons under the Australian Test coach and Lui spending three years at the club while he was in charge.
Murdoch-Masila joined the Tigers in 2010 from Keebra Park High - the Gold Coast nursery that produced Benji Marshall, Greg Eastwood and Sam Moa - and became a regular member of Sheens' team, playing 20 matches in 2012 and 23 in 2013.
He joined the Panthers in 2014 but the 24-year-old forward was restricted by injuries during his two seasons at the club.
A number of NRL clubs, including Penrith, were interested in Murdoch-Masila for next season but he has opted for a fresh start in the UK with Salford.
Meanwhile, Leigh have signed Reni Maitua from Salford and team-mates Rangi Chase and Harrison Hansen are set to join the former Canterbury star at the Championship club.
