Benji back in 4-6 weeks
April 13, 2006

BENJI Marshall today decided to postpone shoulder surgery until the end of the season with a view to making his Wests Tigers return in four to six weeks.

Marshall and club doctor Donald Kuah met with a shoulder specialist yesterday to review the results of the five-eighth's MRI scan.

In a boost to the Tigers's premiership defence, it was revealed his off-season shoulder reconstruction remaine intact and he will undertake a rehabilitation program which could see him return as early as round 11.

Marshall will undergo regular testing and consultation with Kuah and Wests Tigers training staff.

"We will leave the decision in the hands of the specialists. We won't take any chances with Benji," said coach Tim Sheens.

Marshall said he is now focused on the month ahead.

If we win well this weekend - and let's face it, it IS the Sharks we're playing - we'll come in straight away.

He'll miss the Tri Series, which is dissapointing again. I pray he can play in the World Cup.

True although if he had the surgery now he'd miss the tri-series any way wouldn't he?

I wouldnt be laughing so hard my friend.
If Benji injures the shoulder further you will be the one crying.
I hope he has made the right decision....would be a tragedy if he really farks up his shoulder.

De ju vu of last year, Benji won't be around for the tri nations and the Kiwis probably will be saying that he should be able to play for them then have surgey.

Could he play in the Anzac test then? NZ would kill for him to play... If Stacey Jones was there it wouldnt be soo bad, but they need an effective player in the halves.

True Chuck. But it Kennedy would laugh no harder than if any 1 of Wiki/Williams/Pritchard etc. ran at Lockyer.

He has consulted several medical experts. The injury will not affect his long term future, according to these people.

Don't think there is an issue. If there was he'd be having the operation now, and spending the rest of the year on the sidelines.
