Benji Marshall

WT management are making some key decisions: Marshall (dumped by blues looks horrible), Ayshford (asked to look elsewhere Sharks, Hino (OK but not setting the world on fire), Ryan (Average and often injured this year) If they can punt Moltzen its job complete for me.

Yeah we are really starting to see Mayer and Potters masterplan take form. All the players they got rid of (Reddy, Tiquiri, Utai, Miller, Bell, Pettyborne, Ayshford) are playing NSW Cup or are in England at the moment. None of these players are seeing regular FG but most were shoe ins for our side last year.
Potter probably wouldn't admit it but the team he inherited from Sheens was not to his liking. The new culture he is bringing is that you have to be aggressive and hard-working if you want a place in the side.
With Sheens I felt it was just all razzle dazzle and whether you ran well off Benjis magic. When the magic ended, suddenly a large chunk of our team didn't know what they were supposed to be doing...

Will concede that Benji didn't have much to work with behind that pack, but he has quite simply lost it. That performance wouldn't not have looked out of place last season. He is done. He does not take the line, he's lost his speed and couldn't organise a root in a brothel, let alone a footy side.

How he hasn't sacked that f**king dunce of a manager is beyond me too... How do you go from a reported $750K a year at the Tigers for 2 years to $500K a year for 2 years in Rugby to $400K a year for 2 and a half years? That's a special kind of stupid.

His manager did just get him a million dollar deal with Saints when he has been playing at a reserve grade standard for two years with us, was horrible at rugby and hasnt played league for nine months.

Id say he should pat his manager on the back. He deserves match payments and incentive contract.

Maybe his manager tried to convince him not to join rugby.
Maybe he begged him to stay with the Tigers but Benji walked out anyway.
The manager doesnt make the final decisions.

I think this manager does everything he can to do what benji asks, and thats to make him more money.

Benji's ego won't allow him to take a backward step.

Tauber would have made much more money if Benji signed 800k Tigers offered rather than go to rugby.
If I were Tauber I would hve begged him to stay with Tigers.

Yes, but Tauber is a one trick pony.

Plan of Negotiation - Martin tauber style

Step 1: demand more money
If Step 1 is successful, sign contract. If not proceed to Step 2
Step 2: say client has better offer at one other club or rival code
If step 2 is successful, sign contract. if not, proceed to Step 3
Step 3: look for another team and ask them to make an offer to sign client, to try and show to the public that you were right all along and retain the integrity you think you have but have never possessed.
Sign contract.

He was always going to be resigned purely on his marketing value if nothing else.

I don't know what the agreement is between Marshall and Tauber is but if Tauber gets his cut of the contracts that he ekes out he's got two additional fees when Marshall still should been contracted to Wests.

I wish him well but dont really expect him to excell, the WT really dodged a bullet when he left.Saints remind me of where the WT were last year, with a weak forward pack and no direction from a decent half-back,the Storm would of suited him better but he wanted to be in Sydney with family nearby.
If he doesn't improve you would have to think Saints will do the same as the Auckland Blues and punt him.

Don't forget step 4: Profit (for Tauber)

To be completely honest, I would have preferred Benji over Anasta. Although, if it meant we couldn't resign Teddy and all the other youngins we have been resigning then I'm glad things have panned out the way they have.

These days i'd take Anasta over Benji every day of the week, simply because of the circus that comes with having Benji Marshall.
