Bennett back to Broncos in 2011?

Wayne Bennett has done a great job creating a St George team in his own image in the past two years.

Off the field: Give the media nothing

On the field: Try to milk a penalty in the ruck on every play and, if that fails, kick the ball to the corner rather than give the ball to the centres.

It is all about to unravel on Sunday, when Archer keeps his whistle in his pocket and the St George plan A can't manufacture any points.

When the St George supporters try to turn on Bennett after the game, he will already be one step ahead.

There is an NRL team in 2011 that is a perfect fit for him:

- Looking for a coach being about to punt Henjak and being unable to get their players to accept Stuart
- Having signed Hannant and Inglis with the salary cap back working like it was in the glory days
- They know first hand that Bennett doesn't mind negotiating with another club when he is under contract and coaching his team in a finals series.

So when the Saints are waiting for the press conference to hear St Wayne explain why they couldn't score points in the Grand Final, he will have left via private car out the back door of ANZ Stadium to board the first plane back to Brisbane.

At least for 2011 St George can look around for a coach that is prepared to let Gasnier see more ball than he did when playing rugby union.

I just watched his interview with Gus. Hope he gets the final victory, even if I do hate the Dragons.

I personally can't imagine him going to another club though. Retirement, stick with the Dragons or back to the Broncos. Surely

Win or lose, Wayne Bennett is already a coaching legend at St George.

At first I thought you were just taking the piss. But now it seems you're serious. It was slightly humorous before, now its just laughable.

The intro was a bit of a piss take, but if you put two and two together then there is a fair chance something could be happening.

Remember the last time Wayne Bennett was in Grand Final week, he was deep in discussions with the Roosters about breaking his Broncos contract and moving south. The main reason he wanted out from the Broncos was his soured relationship with Bruno Cullen, who is now gone for 2011.

On the Broncos side, it sounds like they have definitely interviewed Stuart which means that Henjak is on thin ice. If they pass on both of these two, with Cullen out of the way you know who they will turn to. And if Bennett's wife is still living in Brisbane, it would be a brave person who would say it couldn't happen.

Interesting thing is that a GF win in 2006 stopped Bennett from moving to the Roosters. Imagine he wouldn't have a qualm about moving back if St George won this year, but if they lost he might feel like he wanted one extra crack with the current team.

Bennett and Bruno bumped heads at the Broncs.. Bruno gone at the end of this year.. another factor which could see Wayne back at the Broncs.

Probably one of the dumber suggestions. The Dragons won't be releasing, nor will they lose the Grand Final.

Yet more pointless, stupid sh*tstirring.

Six premierships from six attempts - St George to two consecutive minor premierships and a grand final. Bennett doesn't have anything further to proove. Back in your box chump...

Amazing how we scored 0 points in the first 20 when we got 5 penalties, and 13 points in the last 60 when we didn't get one... guess our plan B's not too bad, eh? ;-)

For those who think there is nothing in this rumour:

Broncos players not keen for Stuart to coach
LEADING Brisbane players have sought assurances that Ricky Stuart will not be at the Broncos next season amid fresh speculation he is set to replace Ivan Henjak.
The Broncos board will meet Wednesday, although it is almost certain there will be no clandestine moves to dump Henjak in favour of Stuart, who remains unemployed after quitting the Sharks in July.
But should Henjak fail to see out the remainder of his two-year deal, there is no guarantee Stuart will be his successor.

Home fire burns bright for Wayne Bennett as Broncos don't rule out return of master coach
AT the ripe old age of 60, Wayne Bennett has emerged as the hottest coaching prospect in Queensland.

Bennett, who guided St George Illawarra to their second straight minor premiership this year, looms as a possible coaching supremo for the Broncos or Cowboys.
Ivan Henjak (Broncos) and Neil Henry (Cowboys) are under pressure to keep their coaching jobs after disappointing seasons and both clubs will conduct major off-season reviews.
With Bennett yet to commit to St George Illawarra beyond next season, the way is open for the famous Queensland grandfather to come home.
The Broncos yesterday stopped short of ruling out the prospect of the return of the master coach in 2012.

In the capacity of coaching co-ordinator, Bennett could help guide current club captain Darren Lockyer into the next phase of his career as a coach.
Henjak, Bennett's successor at the Broncos, is under mounting pressure to keep his job, with Brisbane failing to make the NRL finals this year for the first time since 1991.
There also has been speculation of a rift between Henjak and some players who reportedly have not warmed to his approach to man management.
Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen said it was too far ahead to speculate about the possible return of Bennett in 2012.
He said it was not part of the club's current plans and as he was standing down as CEO on December 31 it was something for his successor to deal with.
"I wouldn't say never, never when it comes to Wayne possibly returning to the club one day," Cullen said.

Bennett had one year left on his contract with the Broncos when he quit at the end of 2008 and took on the St George Illawarra job and it is believed he was also offered a two-year extension.
His wife Trish still lives in Brisbane and the couple have bought an apartment in the city for the day Wayne returns from Wollongong, his Dragons coaching base.
.....
"The thing people have to remember is that Wayne left of his own accord," Cullen said.

For those who think there is nothing in this rumour:
QUOTE]

Learn to read. Pertains to a possible return in 2012. Contrast that to your idiotic thread title.

Learn to think. But speaking of learning to read, read all of the quotes: "Bennett had one year left on his contract with the Broncos when he quit at the end of 2008 and took on the St George Illawarra job."

How many clubs who want to recruit a coach do you think say to themselves "what a pity, he is under contract for next year, we'll sign him up to start in 12 months and leave our lame duck coach in place until the guy we want comes out of contract"?

Wake up and smell the coffee! If the Broncos want Bennett and Bennett wants to return, they won't be waiting 12 months to consumate the re-union.

Or put it another way - if the Broncos signed Bennett for 2012, do you think St George would make him stay for 2011 whilst spending all of his time recruiting for the 2012 Broncos?
