Missed my edit, it was 16 (I hadn't included the 5 against the Tigers). No question though, he hasn't been a star defender. Nobody here has been pretending that he is. But he is nowhere near as bad as some people are trying to make out from one bad game. And in attack he has been our best. Sadly, those who decided they didn't like him before he came here are going to bag him at every opportunity. The creator of this thread being no exception.

And the same person that created this thread is telling those who disagree with him to stop looking through rose-colored glasses. The irony is strong here.

I should add, defending out wide a one-on-one miss is more likely to result in a try than one up the middle. That's just football.

FFS, bid roberts sleep with your wife our something True EEL? Your pure hatred for the guy is outstanding, even SoftonBoy doesn't hate Luke Burt as much as you hate Ben Roberts.

You complete moron, it's only twats like you that have been on his arse all year that see these suppossed disappointing performances.
Case in point; when he wins us the Manly game and has been a standout in Hayne's absence, you do your best to deflate positive critics, but when he has one bad performance you jump on it and gloat at your fellow fans for pointing out his good form this season.

You are a complete wanker and you should stop telling others to see past their bias, hypocrite.
Support your players or stop bothering everyone with your pedantic assertions.

Don't even bother pointing out his idiocy.

The media heads were talking about Roberts' poor game on the weekend and True EEL thinks they're talking about his whole season.

Roberts has been excellent this year. Sunday's game doesn't change that.

You're also more likely to miss a one-on-one tackle than one where your team-mates are assisting.

And I did notice he is leading the table in player of the year thread. He has had some bad misses for sure, but halves should be getting some support and not having to make too many one on one tackles. I've been pleasantly suprised by B Roberts this year.

I strongly voiced my opinions on Roberts on these forums LAST YEAR when we were sniffing him out and then *sigh* signed him, that he was mistake-prone, a current NSW Cup player and one of the most over-rated and consistently, inconsistent players in the NRL.....I NEVER bought into him being better than he was or god forbid any sort of saviour for our club

I always thought it was a bad move, horrible move......

So everyone on here is wrong and you are right.
Ahhm, ok then.

Definitley rocks or diamonds, actually was rubble on Sunday. having said that he does have a go at all times.

What is the biggest issue remains the bad misses in one on one tackles inside our own 20, I can put up with a playmaker stuffing up, but when they go missing in defence , that is a major problem. I think when he completely misses like he tends to, then the try line is wide open

we need to do what they do in under 10's cricket and play a backstop behind the keeper. Hayne should just defend behind roberts in our 20. :sarcasm:

With Sandow on the opposite flank I'm not sure that's a good idea

Just gonna state what's been probably stated already, there's plenty others in our team who should have a long hard look at themselves when it comes to their defensive efforts. The whole team as a unit in defense is a joke.

His had a very solid year so far continually breaking the line, stop death-riding the bloke.

Thing is he's quite good positionally and in the tackles he's missed which have led to tries he's been there to make them but he ends up just clutching at shirts. That is under 10 stuff. Kind of undoes what he does well in attack when you let in such soft tries like that.

ha ha ha such language from you little fella

umm, maybe try taking your head out of your arse, you annoyance of human being....

Roberts had a good, solid game and created some opportunities against Manly and that's it!!! what else has he done?! oh, i know, he's done little else except be inconsistent and make mistakes - his two greatest strengths

oh and case in point, the bolded bit of your post makes absolutely no sense...and that's apart from the obvious fabrication that Roberts has only had one game this year. FAIL.
