the trainer got in the way?

this is such bullshit.
( nothing personal to you btw)

it was just bad luck it hit him.
He spent no more time and in no different position on the field than any other trainer for any team
Lol, it was the very definition of getting in the way.
The ball hit him. That means he was in the way.
Agreed that it was probably unlucky that he got hit, and that he and other trainers spend as long as each other on the field, but to say he didn’t get in the way is laughable. You can accidentally get in the way.

No
What shit
People are carrying on like he was actually in the way.
He was NOT in the way
He was behind the play.
A one in a million charge down that accidentally and by no fault on him hit him.

it was just a freaky rebound
An accident
He was not in the way.
He was not doing anything illegal.

It’s like merkins are trying time claim this was some sort of ploy for the roosters to get the ball back.

f**king idiots.

To say he wasn't doing anything illegal isn't accurate. The rules state that trainers are only to be on the field in case of injury, provide water in a break of play or to provide a massage to an individual player he wasn't doing that or shouldn't have needed to do so in the 3rd minute of the game (injury aside). Just because every team does it and it isn't policed as it should be doesn't mean that it is legal.

As for being in the way as soon as his being there interferes with the game he is in the way. Was it a freak accident definitely but that doesn't mean he wasn't in the way. As for it being a Roosters ploy of course it wasn't.

The blokes are on the field the whole game
Raiders had one as well

it was accidental.

Lol.
He was in the way because he got hit. I’m not blaming him or anyone else. You can get in the way by accident.

If the raiders player was aiming for the ball to go exactly where the dude was you could say he was in the way.
Being a charge down you can safely say he wasn’t aiming there.
If he was aiming at the trainer.. then he needs to learn the rules because he is a f**king idiot.

it was just bad luck.
Nothing more

It doesn’t matter if Soliala aimed the ball there or not, the trainer, a non participant in the actual playing of the game, got in the way of the natural flight of the ball.
Saying he got in the way isn’t saying he did anything wrong.
I don’t believe he did anything wrong as per the way the rules are policed currently.
Hopefully they restrict the time trainers have on the field so this rare situation becomes even less likely to happen again.

The ball hit the trainer but the trainer wasn’t in the way.

This is some Olympic level mental gymnastics.

Saying he was in the way is eluding to him being in the wrong place.
He wasn’t
He was standing in exactly where he was allowed to.
If the ball hits the post does that mean the post is in the way too?

Absolutely. As in “I tried to kick it into the in goal but the post was in the way”.

No “eluding” here.

There was an article presented a couple of days it all went down that quoted the nrl manual this might reinforce that point for you. The quote reads as

"In all cases when trainers enter the field of play to either; attend to an injured player, carry water, or deliver individual messages, they must immediately leave the field once their assigned task has been completed and return to the player’s bench.”

Are you suggesting that the trainer

I have accepted the loss now however your lack of knowledge of the rules is clear, whilst your line of argument has kept me in the discussion. That doesn't mean I haven't accepted the loss.

An article that was written a few days after the game quoted the nrl manual and outlined the guidelines for trainers on the field.

The nrl's own rule 1.43.2 states that 'In all cases when trainers enter the field of play to either; attend to an injured player, carry water, or deliver individual messages, they must immediately leave the field once their assigned task has been completed and return to the player’s bench.”

Surely your not trying to suggest the Roosters were that much out condition that they needed water less than 3 minutes into the match or that these professional athletes had already forgotten their game plan after 2 and a half minutes of play.

Just because the nrl and officials are incompetent and haven't been policing their own rules as they should be doesn't change the fact that these are the rules.

And yes it is an issue across all clubs and in all games but that doesn't mean it should be or that it is within the rules of the game.

Haha
Mate it happened so quickly he didn’t even see the ball coming.
It was just a freaky accident.

How do you know why he was out there?
Blokes get injured right throughout the game.
