Frog I think we all know Kite is a certainty. But this isn't about the team we expect to be named, it's about us giving our top 17. Obviously we will all have differing opinions.

Although the one thing agreed on by nearly everyone appears to be no Brent Kite.

I guess that's why Ivan is Coach of the Year and all of us aren't. Personally, I'd have both Kite and Plum in the 17 for the first round provided they are fit. Kite in particular was very strong after coming back from injury in last year's finals. I suspect he was carrying a lot of niggles for much of the season.

And while I'm here anyone have any idea what the go is with Docker?

The coach of the year still has errors in judgement.

If it wasn't for injury Moylan would never have got a run and Wes Naiqama or Dean Whare would have stayed at fullback. Kingston would have been starting hooker all last year etc.

I'm just happy when injuries force changes that he is willing to stick with them. Elliott never did.

I want both Peach and Cartwright to start but if one is to start on the bench why are you guys picking Bryce? Out of the 2 he's far better suited to the tough first 15mins.

My feeling is that Bryce still has a bit to prove in the top grade.

Article today on NRL.com suggesting Idris may move into the forwards and Manu to prop if need be. Also George likely to start for Mansour who is apparently out until round 5. Might see Blake sooner than expected.

It would be uncharacteristic of Cleary to make bold moves round one. Then again maybe he is now confident of the team he has assembled that it won't be a matter of throwing a young bloke to the wolves.

Either way I expect we won't find out until an hour before kick off. A week of press ahead of a blockbuster rematch of our prelim on nine for a guy as highly touted as Waqa. Definitely not Clearys style.

He gave Yeo his debut round 1 last year. Why do people keep saying he is conservative? Pretty sure the only teams who debuted more players than us last year were the Tigers and Sharks.

Naiqama/Whare at fullback
Kingston at hooker
Simmons on the wing

Took injuries to shift them. That's part of the reason why.

Wasnt Simmons like 2nd top in tries scored 2 seasons ago? He had earned his spot to start the season last year. Whare was the coach trying something aswell as him and Gus not rating Moylan thats not being conservative imo though it was a mistake obviously. The other two yes certainly. Moseley and Yeo's debuts were fairly un conservative when u consider them. We debuted like 3 or 4 nyc aged players last year, plus some other young guys, we have the Jennings boys, Waqa and RCG all looking like getting a shot this season. Like how many 18-22yo can u fit into a fg side and still be competitive? You need to manage it.

Simmons big year was all Whare. Sounds harsh but it's true

It is a bit harsh. Whare played his part, but Simmons has never been worse than solid since he signed for us. This year is the year he will struggle to get a run, prior to that he has earned every game.
