Many offenders in our team when it comes to the play the ball. Would love to see a stat which measured that.

Mansour showed the way on Sunday. Always urgent. Just needs to rub off on the rest of the team.
Absolutely. If you look at a lot of our tries and trace back the ones that come particularly from a fast play the ball Cleary features heavily, more than anyone else probably. Our lightweight teenage inexperienced half has more of a clue that the ruck is a contestable often deciding factor in a game than the rest of them, like they need a rugby league for dummies starter course.

No room for JFH atm. Hands and penalties JFH's problem. CHN I don't think has been really tested defensively, if he's up to that then maybe no future here for JFH at all.

None of those teams have the impact that bench would bring though. Also that is forgetting how hard JFH hits. Our starting pack is far different with him in it
They don't have that impact off the bench because starting your best players works better.

It makes you questions whether this is coaching or just laziness. I find it hard to believe that the team would be unaware of this.

Cartwright will suffer the same fate as Graham, Austin and to a lesser extent Coote.

Playing in the wrong position will only hamper his development. He will end up elsewhere and thrive...MAYBE.

I personally just dont get it. He just doesn't fit into any mould. Yes he can ball play but his size and skill should be tearing teams apart. Instead he's just pushing passes, playing out of position and proving a real pain.

With the side we have now, hes a bench player at best. Next step is elsewhere.

We could have put Moylan at 5/8 last year, given Cartwright 12 or 13 and told him to make the position his own and given the coaching to make it happen. But our coach in his wisdom decided to hold off on making the obvious call for as long as humanely possible, and Cartwright has been the one to really suffer, I think.

Personally, next season I would be putting Merrin to prop, Cartwright to 13 and trying to make up for the wasted two years.

I really like that but what happens with the other props? Do we ditch Tamou? That wouldn't be the worst thing to happen.

One of Tamou or RCG to the bench in place of Browne.

I'd have a bench of

RCG/Tamou
Kikau
Peachey/JFH
Latu

(Peachey would be starting center ahead of Whare on form for me, though, hence he is bracketed with JFH.)

Out of that I'd have the bench Tamou/Kikua/JFH/Latu

I don't see Griffin dropping Whare even though Peachy is better.

Peachey looks dangerous close to the line with his stepping but it's a fair while since it has led to a try for us, and he does tend to favour going himself over passing. He perhaps looks more dangerous than he really is.

Griffin likes to have a player who can cover the backs on the bench. Peachey is ideal for this role because you can cover just about any position on the field with him. His role on the bench is just as important as the role of a starting centre.

Pretty sure Griffin is/was playing him at lock later in games with instructions to push Wallace out the way and run out of DH when there's the opportunity. Best of both worlds by Griffin's thinking, Wallace's DH service and Peachey's running. Don't know that it really worked that way. But I don't think he'd drop Whare for Peachey unless Whare gets shown up at centre by someone as badly as Peach did by Chambers. I wouldn't.

That's fair.

If Whare finds his pre-injury form, he would naturally nail down one of the center spots, and Peachey to the bench would be fine. It's nice to know we have quality cover if Whare/Blake go down.

That is where Peachey is best in that role. Don't give him rules just let him follow the ball. Great to have if a back goes down too
