I've seen Vai too - different crowd obviously to the teen set at Nirvana, Amazing show. Not the best I've seen but it was quite impressive nonetheless.

teen set?

you weren't there obviously.

There were more teeny boppers at the concert I saw Vai play.
He was playing for Lee Roth.

Ahhh back in the good old days. I would have loved to have seen that Roth tour. I believe it was the Skyscraper tour when he came out.

I saw Vai when he played at Selinas about 7 years ago. No teeny-boppers there that night.

Anyway, I don't hate Nirvana - I just wonder how the least impressive of all the Seattle/grunge bands managed to become the most popular ... oh that's right, Kurt blew his brains out. Always a sure fire way to ensure musical immortality.

I wish I'd seen Alice in Chains play. That's one of my greatest regrets.

They were extremely famous before he did himself in.
That's just a stupid comment.

Skyscaper is probably right..I went with a mate who had a spare ticket.

He played heaps of covers from memory

They were extremely famous but they became legendary once that happened.

Fact is: AIC, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone were all far superior bands.

As it turned out, Nirvana just happened to release the right song at the right time.

Oh well, sh*t happens. Good luck to them.

This latest chat has got me thinking ... I'll need to start a new thread.

Nevermind was massive .
right song
right band
right everything

every song on nevermind is a classic.

and those other bands especially mudhoney can thank Nirvana for making them some money.

Nirvana can thank Mudhoney for paving the way

and they did...they were one of Cobains favourite bands.

Everyone made a lot of money off the back of teen spirit.

Crap seattle bands got signed all over the joint.

Yeah they did, it became flavour of the month - a bit like that nu-metal crap.

Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park - God help us
