I believe i can fly - Me first and the gimme gimmes
Boys of summer - The Atari's &
Hurt by Johnny Cash
Does the stuff Joaquin Phoenix did on the Walk The Line soundtrack count as a cover?

To be fair, isn't the Me First & The Gimmie Gimmies a punk "super group" that only does covers??

I am sure I have a version of them doing "Only the good die young" knocking about...

Has anyone listened to Triple J's "Like a Version" CD's?

There are some great cover songs on those albums.

Stairway to heaven - Rolf harris
Ticket To ride - Husker Du
Hurt - Sevendust
Howl at the Moon - Strung Out
I believe I Can fly/Mandy/ just about anything - Me first and the gimme gimmes
Hangin on the Telephone - L7

And anything on the "Standards and Measures" album by face to face. Totally Brilliant array of cool Shizzle.

Thats all I can think of for now

Twist and Shout, Roll over Beethoven, Rock and Roll Music, Baby its you, Johnny B Goode, Long Tall Sally -ALL were covered by the Beatles.

The Doors doing a XXX version of Van Morrison's Gloria is also a f**king brilliant cover.
They also covered John Lee Hooker's Crawling King Snake ... excellent cover as well. In return, John Lee Hooker covered The Doors' Roadhouse Blues in some tribute album.

Other personal favourites ...

Eric Clapton doing JJ Cale's Cocaine
Red Hot Chilli Peppers doing Jimi Hendrix's Fire.
Black Crowes doing Hard to Handle (forget who did the original .. doh !!).
Nirvana doing Bowie's Man Who Sold The World.
Eddie Vedder doing Dylan's Masters of War ... A+
Stevie Ray Vaughan doing Hendrix's Little Wing and the only one who does justice to Hendrix's Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Johnny Cash doing Soundgarden's Rusty Cage and also Depeche Mode's Personal Jesus is a ripper as well (and yes Hurt too).
But this is probably Johnny Cash's best cover imo - Redemption Song with Joe Strummer and Tom Morello on guitar.

Gary Jules doing Tears for Fears' Mad World
Faith No More doing War Pigs and Easy
Living Color doing Cream's Sunshine of your love ... Vernon Reid for the win.
Rage Against the Machine doing Springsteen's Ghost of Tom Joad
Manfred Mann doing Springsteen's Blinded By the Light is a classic
George Thorogood doing John Lee Hooker's One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
Creedence Clearwater Revival doing Suzie Q (cant remember the original sorry)
Marilyn Manson doing the Eurythmics' Sweet Dreams is a belter imo :)
Silverchair doing Midnight Oil's Dont Wanna be the One wins too
Screaming Jets doing the Boys Next Door's Shivers

Otis Redding.

Disturbed do some amazing covers (their version Genesis Land of Confusion is great and their cover of Faith No More Midlife Crisis is the only FNM cover that doesn't blow goats.)

The Whitlams do a fantastic version of Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue

Doug Anthony All Stars do Throw Your Arms and I heard it Through The Grapevine

Lacuna Coil's Enjoy The Silence

Worst cover ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k_BgzSDQNk
