lol @ gallen the clutch player.

There really needs to be a Gallen-wankoff subforum on this board for some of these clowns.

i think many of you dont know what clutch means

My understanding would be a player you would want in your team when the game is in the balance.

And I would take Gallen in my team over someone like Sandow any day of the week. Sandow would more then likely go missing when his team needed him.

No, Sandow wouldn't go missing. He'd be the reason his team won or lost. A brilliant player at times, but his decision making can let him down. He's just turned 23, so this might improve as he plays more.

Gallen the clutch player...Sharks on the attack down by 2 in the dying seconds, a three man overlap to the right, the halfback set up at first-receiver to execute the play, then suddenly Gallen overrules him and steams onto the dummy-half pass to get comfortably held up over the line. "A heroic charge", the commentators will marvel.

I was a Gallen fan before it was cool, but if there is one thing he aint, it's a cool head under pressure. It'll be interesting to see if he treats Carney with the same disrespect he's treated the other playmakers in his team the last couple of years.

Gallen is the Larry Bird of Rugby League.

Clutchplayer is someone who has plenty of skills with his footwork, ballskills ,etc.
Someone who can do the unpredictable & win the game..
Someone who is cool under pressure.

Locky was great ,JT is great.Bowen 2004-07 was .Locke & Johnson, are rapidly becoming the same..
Then there is players like wallace, will probably never have the footwork,or ball skills to pull something out with 2 mins left.
But if you are going into GP ,he has to be on the field.

What about that time brett finch (playing for canberra) kicked the drop-out out on the full giving the other team a penalty goal right in front to win the game. That was pretty clutch

Well, I'll take Gallen over any other player if the game is "in the balance" at half time, and you just want the bloke most likely to have a consistent 40 minute impact and lift his team mates.

But, if you are down with 2 to go, hopefully you don't have to rely on him as your go to man as the Sharks have had to all too frequently.

In that situation, if you need a length of the field miracle, Hayne and Marshall are the clutch players I'd want.

On the other hand, if there is 2 to go and you are attacking the line and need the sensible play most likely to score, JT is the one I'd want.

If the siren has gone and you need a field goal slotted over, I'd want Soward.

Geez Lockyer was good in these situations- I'd take him in all those scenarios.

If on the other hand you are up by a point or 2 with a few minutes left, and want to make damn sure the opposition has limited chances to steal the game, I'd want Smith. Also Smith is the man if there was 10 to go and you needed 10 minutes of constructive attack to get back into the game.

Wouldn't be bad to have Gallen, Marshall, Hayne, Thurston, Soward (you'd fit him in somewhere with Marshall) and Smith in your team. I don't think you'd often need to come up with clutch plays though...

If your team made a break or was defending a break I'd want Slater as the support/cover player.
