Best Grand Final for Rugby League in 2011

Haha matt mundine is still a fat f**k, and no where near NRL standard. Then again, no one in your backs is so he might fit right in.

Haha he was a year ago. He lost weight this year and he'll be 1st grade ready in 2011. The missing piece we've been looking for in our halves.

Saints vs Anyone

The Dragon Army brings the noise to make up for lame-wads like Sharks or the She-Eagles.

Smacking Inglis' big Bronco ass would tick a few boxes though.

Seeing 50uffs crying into their spam sandwiches would be funny.

I'm not sure if Cityrail could handle the Bulldogs insurgents, so having them in the big dance is no good for anyone. Although the NRL might get extra revenue by selling the rights to Al Jazeera, so that's a positive.

It really isn't a good time for Dragons fans to get smug about crowd behaviour. We don't want anymore fatalities on our hands now do we

After having been at the Grand Final supporting the Roosters, I was able to console myself with the belief that the Dragons' win was "for the good of the game", where "Rugby League was the winner" on the day.
From this point of view, and casting aside club loyalties or prejudices, what in your opinion would represent the best Grand Final ( participants and result) for the NRL in 2011? Please give your rationale. IMO, it would be Warriors v Broncos, with the Warriors the victors.
The Warriors are yet to win a premiership, having come up short in 2002. An NRL Grand Final win would take some of the attention away from the union world cup in NZ in 2011, especially if the all blacks manage to choke again. The Warriors seem to have gauged their success against the likes of Brisbane, so a victory against them would give their premiership "legitimacy". With the Broncos participating , it would reengage fans in Qld, who have been left out of the show for 5 years now. A Sharks win over the Dragons would also be good. I'd also love to see a Rabbitohs v Tigers GF. What do you reckon?

I assume you work for NRL marketing and are just fishing to see what is the preferred GF for feedback to the heavyweights at the NRL to ponder.

Panthers vs Raiders, the timing would be great, we could use the new heritage jerseys based on the 1991 design.

And about the first time both those clubs have been mentioned - so that combo would probably be the worst! Well, second to Cronulla v Souths!

Broncos v Souths (with souths doing the late season rally/fairytale type thing)

That was my pick. But for my blood pressure I'd rather we have the minor premiership locked up a month early, instead of the week to week late season rally to get in the 8.

meh I woudlnt worry about it, minor premiership/gf is ours to lose next year. With the team weve got plus Johnny Lang were gonna be nearly unbeatable next yr

2011 will be year of the bunny, u mark my words

In more ways than one. It's the year of the rabbit in chinese star signs. When I found that out it was the clearest sign yet. Everythings coming together for '11.

lol seriously? how many teams have won it in that year? Tigers certainly didn't this year.

And that sucks if thats your clearest sign of a premiership.

The chinese star sign isn't the reason we'll win, it's a symptom, a sign, a foreshadowing of what's to come.

The reason we'll win is the same reason as why any premiers win, our players. Asotasi is ready to fire after the Kiwis insulted him. Taylor is a superstar in the making. Burgess will get even better as he's joined by his brothers. Have you seen his twin brothers? They're two 18 year old man mountains. The two best young forwards in england. They're going to set the NRL on fire.

We're going to have the best forward pack in the league. 6 months from now our forwards will make the dragons forward pack look like girlie men.
Our spine will be as good as Melbourne's.

An elite forward pack and an elite spine is all you need, we'll have both in 2011.

We've finally built a team the right way instead of signing overpriced and over the hill big names. The results will show in 2011.

You have the same players this year, and you couldn't even make the 8.

Asotasi is over the hill. Taylor is sh*t house, and will only run it if he can run at outside backs. Burgess won't be joined by his brothers. Lol at you thinking you guys can get the ESL best prospects out here on NYC money. I know your delusional, but surely no one could possibly think that?

You had the "best forward pack in the league" this year apparently, and look how sh*t house you guys are. You have ok forwards, but no one in your backs is even at NRL standard. Elite spine? So like the 9,7,6 and 1? Which all your players are sh*t?

Asotasi is 28, and his last 6 weeks of the season was him back to his best. And with being dropped by the Kiwis, he has to teach some people a lesson. He's still in his prime.

The Burgess twins are 18, they want to come here, all we need to do is pay the transfer fees, we will. By the time they get expensive a couple years down the track we'll have cap room for them.

Dave Taylor is a star. People forget he's just 22. He will be one of the most dangerous players in the league in his prime.

Our spine will be Isaac Luke and Sandow joined by Matt Mundine and Josh Mansour. Two stars from Toyota cup. Those 4 + Dave Taylor + all the Burgess brothers = premiership core. And they'll be together for 10 years. We're going to win multiple premierships this decade.

Prepare yourself so it doesn't come as too big a shock. The city will be drowning in red and green by the time we're done.

Lol if thats his best, you guys are going to struggle. He's way past it. They want to come here as in "I would do anything to play for souths" or "Yeh I like Australia, would be good to play out here". But sure, they will give up 300k pound a year for less than 50k aud. But good to see that 1 article in the tele saying you are interested means you have signed 3 players. Its funny you think your winning the premiership on the back of 3 players the club hasn't even started to negotiate with yet.

No body forgets he's 22, because he's sh*t house. Won't do the hard work, wants to be out in the centres running at centres because hes soft.

Matt Mundine the souffs saviour. How can someone who has been targeted as a talent, have dietitians, gym sessions, etc etc be so f**king fat. He won't get an NRL game, and if he does you guys are f**king struggling.

You wont win a premiership in the next 2 decades.

The city will be laughing at you, as it has done for the last 40 years.

This is 2010, not 2009. Have you seen him lately? Mundine's lost 20 kilos. We've put effort into him and he's working hard. At the start of the year I thought exactly the same as you about him, but he's come good.

As for the twins, they're only 18, they're still on their rookie contract. They're not making big money. So because they're not coming off contract it makes the process a lot simpler, they want to come, they were in the country recently, all we need to do is get the transfer fee out of the way.

They'll be in red and green before the start of next season.

the best grand final for me would be one that appeals of the majority of the public. ie Brilliant attacking teams who know how to entertain. I don't think we've had a GF for the 'fans', and by that i mean the casual fans, for a while now.. having defence orientated teams dominate the arena; in Manly, the Storm and now the Dragons

but then again, it is a matter of opinion.. i certainly agree that we can't have 40-32 scorelines in a GF

But I thought the Roosters were considered "entertainers", but they only scored 8 points. That's the problem with the "entertainers" style, it doesn't work well against teams who can defend which means teams like that rarely go all the way. You need to have the right balance. In saying that it was a very entertaining finals series, with two of the hardest fought finals I've seen in quite a while Tigers v Roosters and Tigers v Dragons.
