My top 10 guitar solo's: (not in order)

Alive- Pearl Jam
My Sharona- The Knack (not bad for a one hit wonder)
Stairway to Heaven- Led Zepplin
Highway Star- Deep Purple
Sweet Child O' Mine- Guns and Roses
While my guitar gently weeps- Beatles (Eric Clapton performed that solo)
Back in Black- AC/DC
Better- Screaming Jets
Crossroads- Cream
Rock 'n' Roll- Led Zepplin

Living End is one of my favourite bands, Chris Cheney pulls a good one in All Torn Down.

"Brighton Rock" by Queen... one of their first songs, before Bohemian Rhapsody... Brian May goes nuts for a couple of minutes in the middle.

He would have to be one of the best ever.

The final solo in Comfortably Numb is the grandaddy of all guitar solos. As is the solo in Crazy Train, I don't think a solo has ever suited a song better than that one did.

A few more recent ones...

Chambers Of Dis and Hellspawn The Rebirth by Morbid Angel
2econd Skin by Moonspell
Insane Sordid Wicked by Castrum
Where Dead Angels Lie by Dissection
Scars Of The Crucifix by Deicide. It's pretty much just sweep picking but damn it's good.

Chris Cheney is an excellent guitarist, and The Living End are awesome live. Chris goes insane on the guitar when he's live and his studio recordings are damn good also.

I thought they stole the show at Livid last year, with all the international acts, these guys are just so hot live.

And gotta have a laugh at Frenzal, with their take of of Australian Idol, or as they called it Australian f**kwit.

Some awesome axemen mentioned here. Try these on for size.

Yngwie Malmsteen (Alcatrazz) - Jet To Jet.
Michael Schenker (UFO) - Rock Bottom.
Jimmy Page - Dazed And Confused.
Mathias Jabs - Coming Home.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Far Beyond The Sun, I Am A Viking, Blitzkrieg, Fire And Ice.
Lead break from We're Stars, featuring over 20 metal axemen. Sensational stuff.
Brian May. Possible the most underrated guitarist of our time - The Prophets Song.
Eric Clapton - White Room.

I just want to throw in another Metallica solo - The Struggle Within. But its difficult to go past the third solo in One.

Also liked Estranged by Guns and Roses, but the classic will always be Page in Stairway to Heaven.

Well if i was gonna say technically best..it would be Vai, Satriani or Clapton

but my personal favs are: The 2nd solo of Knockin on Heavens Door by Slash, & Both Women solo's by Phil Collen (Def Lep)..with the 2nd solo intertwining with Steve Clarke backing him up...bliss.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
and a whole bunch of Page solos.
