Not sur ehow Dimebag doesn't get a mention among that list. Streets ahead of Adam from Tool IMO

I'm just a beginner guitarist and I've got to say that Tony Iommi created very simple but awesome riffs. NIB & Ironman are quite easy to play but even I can make them sound good.

Here is a great list of guitaristss.

http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/best_newguitar.html

Also some great solo and riff lists.

Very true, listen to his stuff with Ronnie James Dio, even better!

Country girl, Heaven & Hell & Voodoo are imo his best 3 riffs.

And Neon nights aswell.

As much as I love Pink Floyd and love Dave Gilmours guitar style I find it funny he is rated so highly by so many people.

He's great.. don't get me wrong but he isn't exactly a shredder is he?

That is the way most people rate guitarists on here by the looks of it...it's all about speed soloing it seems.
Which he aint...and what he plays isn't very technical either.
He just knows how to make it sound sweet...he is unique in his style almost.

It is almost ironic...I wonder if he was in an Aussie band would he be rated so highly........?

Tom Morello is one I dont think that has been mentioned yet.
He knows his sh*t.

Agreed. Lee Ronaldo and Thurston Moore are two of the most under-rated guitarists ever.

J Mascis is another bloke who goes pretty good without having to cut the arse out of his leather pants to sell records.

Another good choice - I saw J support Sonic Youth a few years back - it was quite amazing to see how much noise one guy with an acoustic guitar and alot of pedals could make.

After hearing the new Chili Peppers album, I'd say John Frusciante is close to the greatest living guitarist in the world.

His understanding of harmony and music in general is frightening.

Just because they're your favourite band doesn't mean they immediately boast the world's greatest musicians.

I love Tool but Adam Jones is pretty damn crap.
