great choice - great musicians, so innovative and original. both should be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame

Respect your opinion but he can hardly be compared to the greats. Pretty much recites a pentatonic minor scale every solo he does.

I'd rate Hetfield higher than Hammett, sure he's less technical but he's an all-time great rhythm guitarist where Hammett's leads are often mediocre. Plus on the odd occaision Hetfield solos, they're simple yet brilliant (Fade to Black, Nothing Else Matters)

Dave Mustaine is one of the most underrated guitarists ever.

Dimebag was one of the most complete band guitarists.

Eddie van was an innovater, just like hendrix.

Toni Iommi was 20 yrs ahead of his time in the day.

Get Fugged leotard boy.

I, as you know have been playing for near on 20 years and Moginie is one of the best I've seen.

Solo wanking and hair spray is only a small part of it.( a very fugged part )

The songs Moginie wrote and co/wrote with the oils ( all the classics I might add ) are very complex .
His combo's with Martin Rotsey was unique and intense.
The whole stereo alternating guitar thing has been picked up more recently by the Artic Monkeys ...whom sound suspicioulsy like some early oils stuff.
Dance floor intro is straight out of the Blue album.
Van Halen is obviously good ....but Moginie means more to me as an Aussie.

Classic Oils riffs written by Moginie include.
Armistice day
Power and the passion
Read about it
powderworks
Run by night
Cold cold change
Short memory
Hercules
Only the strong
No time for games

and the absolutely awesome "Stand in line" just to name a few.

Sorry... eddie , Yangwe and all the other posing seppo's or euro axemen don't do anything for me.

Really , really , really fast pentatonic scales are not original.

Moginie is an Australian legend .

Anyone would think you hate 80's rock:lol:

Sorry but he's not at the same level as the one's i'd mentioned, he just doesn't have the variety which could make him in that lead.

I'll admit he's a good songwriter/guitarist but i'd even have Tommy and Phil Emanuel ahead of him

Fug me swingin!!!!!
Tommy emmanual????
BORING....Have you got his latest Easter covers acoutic albumyet ....mate he's in the same section as Kamahl???

Moginie doesn't have variety???

as compared to what ? a bunch of clones dressing the same , playing identical guitars/solo's with the same lyrics about rooting bimbos in los angeles.

This is variety.
One Country = Anthem/balled.
Wedding cake island = Instrumental surf guitar.
I'm am the cure = Early punk.
Beds are burning = Oz rock.
Power and the passion = early use of sequencers
Back on the bordeline= all out rock n roll.

The only time Van Halen strayed from the formula was in that retched piece of shyte called "Jump"...and that had a fuggen keyboard riff......If only they did jump.

The Oils at their peak with Moginie weilding his gibson blew every other band away.
