I prefer WA. The WARL are working hard with regions of WA to grow the game and having a team that represents the whole state will be important. Not sure what it is like in other States but country people in WA don't see any links with the city (Perth) so it would alienate alot of potential fans and sponsors to call them Perth.

it's like that here in NSW as well. People from Wollongong, Central Coast, Newcastle etc etc do not feel connection to Sydney. Infact, they generally have a huge rivalry with Sydney.

If the bid is named WA, it makes it easier to take a game or 2 per year out to other WA locations - whether it be a trial or an actual season home game.

That way they can also spread the game throughout the state - Perth is not the be-all and end-all..

Yeh there's no other stadiums in WA. They could erect a temp one in kalgoorlie if a mining company was on board. Would make for an awsome weekend away!

That ground in NZ got a run for the Sharks Warriors game earlier this year, surely there are some decent Aussie rules grounds around the place that could hold a game or two, even if its just for trials.

Fair enough, then still use WA instead of Perth, and consider it future-proofing for the time when other centres CAN host the odd game.

Still a fan of Kookaburras even if it is a bit long for a nickname...

Has to be something local and iconic.

Nice except that the bid is away from the coastline.
I like kookaburras too, but maybe it should be implied rather than stated, as the word "kookaburra" is a bit aweful.

I always liked "Brisbane Valleys" as a club name with a Kookaburra mascot/emblem/logo... colours white, brown and light blue. Valleys is a name thats long been used by Rugby League clubs, and would be great at the NRL level.

Interestingly the WARL are going to go back to the people of Perth for choice of name for a future NRL team. Seems a strange decision given they have spent 4 years rebuilding the Reds brand? Maybe they will keep the WA Reds for SG Ball and NSW cup and have a new name for the NRL club?

Seems very silly to not keep the Reds branding, esp after they've built it back up as you say and it is so iconic to WA and rugby league.

Not to mention they had a fan survey back in '06 or whenever it was that they brought the Reds back to life...
