I didn't know that.

Giants and 49ers are my 2 NFL teams. I've gone past Candlestick Park but I've been told it's an amazing experience on a Sunday twilight.

Hence why I've said before that the Perth/W.A. Reds should pick Old/Metallic Gold instead of Silver or Black.

Yes, red and gold can be a very good combination.

49 seems to be a significant number for SF. 1849 for the miners, 49ers, city is 49 sq miles (7x7), they built a 49 mile long tourist drive.
a couple of sites www.7x7.com and www.sanfrancisco.com ; will show some 49 related stuff.

Fourex = tryhard. :lol:

We get it. You have NFI. You have proved that! Here comes the nurse with the nice big needle to put you to sleep and take those nasty voices out of your head.

I read the forum and the argument between Loudy and 4ex is going nowhere. To assist you both, three months ago I was in the States and got to travel through New Mex. Anyway I saw this horse, not quite a wild bucking Bronco but cut from the same cloth all the same, and it had a deep brown reddish colour and a blondish mane. Not sure if this is a breed of horse or if some local belter has bleached the mane... but it's enough for me to say that there is a possibility that Brisbane called themselves the Bronco's because someone back in late 1987 cast their eye over this rare breed of horse and that it at the time matched their agreed club colours of Maroon and White (Qld), and Yellow (City of Brisbane colours and something to do with Qld sunshine).

Now it's time to tackle the big issues.

Cheers, Scarves, except "Bronco" is not a breed of horse, but a term given to wild horses in the US, the same as "Brumbies" refers to wild horses in Australia.

I reckon a Florida State Gold would look better, for San Fran as well for that matter:lol:

That square mile city stuff has to be bullshit or just an amazing coincidence. Named after the city size? The New York 67.8ers.....

That QLD teams are americanised fo' sure. If Sir Joh had allowed pokies in QLD we would have had a good chance to have some more historic Qld league names like Seagulls, Devils and Brothers (despite its Catholic connections)

Why are there Dragons there....?

They aren't even "Australian" animal mythical connections........which was the point. The Dragons are creatures that quite possibly never existed from Great Britain and the rumoured "Panther" of the Blue mountains has it's origins from the Americas, Asia and Africa

I think you will find the myth of St George and the Dragon has nothing to do with Great Britain either. He is the Patron Saint of England (as well as a bunch of other countries throughout Europe, but not the rest of the British Isles), but the mythology is based around a Armenian soldier in the Roman Legion.

And the original name was Dragon-Slayers, but got abbreviated over time.

That's what I would choose if I were in charge. Though I reckon the QRL might get shitty with Capras though, I think they own the rights to the name like they did with us with Marlins.

Well I know they're change the shade of gold and extent over time.

I do agree though - the Florida State shade is better. I've described it as 'Old Gold' before rather than metallic.

That said I remember Perth Red did a mock up based on that and it was on the money.

I'm sure the logo could be tweeked a bit, like the jersey design though. What's happened with their bid process? A second NZ team has so many advantages, surely they're still fighting for inclusion in the forseeable future?

As far as I know it's fallen off the radar - a shame, because a 2nd New Zealand team is not only a great TV drawcard, but something that the AFL can never aspire to - international teams.

Honestly, people outside of Australia don't give a @&$^ for their game.
