WHY are some of you making up this rule that the feet have to be back in before the recatch. What difference does it make if they're in midair or not? That is nowhere in any rule book.

As long as the ball has not touched the rope or any surface beyond the rope or any player touching any surface beyond the rope it is not a boundary and is still in play. If a player can catch it without triggering any of that he should be rewarded for his athleticism and coordination and not punished by some arbitrary nonexistant rule.

f**k me there's some dum merkins in this thread. The rule is now the OPPOSITE to how it works in rugby league.
The rule change is shit, it should have been a six, and what maxwell tweeted is true

Wizarderp, Dutchy, Twiz, Cleary, Bazal and others might think he was out but the decision was correct

even the Big Derp has admitted he was wrong

I think it's been proven today that the decision was 'correct' under the NEW rules.
The issue now though is that:
1. The rule change is bullshit and players shouldn't be able to do what Lalor did last night.
2. The rule change was not made well enough known.

Why not? Who does it harm? It opens up possibilities for athletic exciting plays. It's entertaining. Batsmen do not need any help. They have been given huge bats AND flat pitches AND roped grounds. This is one little advantage given to the fielding team. It is fine.

Because it makes those spectacular catches so much easier.

it's easy enough already for batsmen

no need to make it easier by making it harder to take a catch because the ropes have made the boundaries smaller

So should Lote Tuqiiri be able to jump from outside the field to ground a try?
No

Those that play cricket see it as a 6, even international cricketers saw it as a 6.

Umpires give it out because of a rule change.

Pretty poorly handled.

Listening to ponting is like listening to a bloke gargling razor blades.

Which is still better than listening to a bloke on nein who likes gargling sperm.

No

how long until fieldsman are standing in the crowds taking screamers, jumping over spectators and spilling beer. All legal cause its 'entertaining'.

dead set. 20/20 is ruining cricket.
