Aleague Melbourne Derby: 23,572
Big Bash Melbourne Derby: 79,000

It's not really a true comparison. Victory fans don't like going to City home games, where the ground holds 28-30k. When it's Victory's home game, the crowd at Etihad is 40k+, at a ground that's crap for watching football.

So still only half the Big Bash crowd?

Bbl has pretty much killed the a-league this year. im a fan of both and have missed only 2 BBL games this year. Barely watched the a-league, its just not interesting anymore. Pretty sure most of Australia has the same mindset. BBL is going to be huge in 10 years. The A-league will barely exsist.

80,883 @ MCG

Wow, is all I can say. Don't think that will be beaten anytime soon. Got nearly 30k more than Boxing Day

that's an insane crowd for domestic t20 game

record perhaps?

Unless it is a Stars vs Renegades final at the MCG, I don't see tonight's crowd being beaten anytime soon. 2nd largest ever T20 crowd (behind the Australia vs India T20 international in 2008 that got 85k). Well done to all those who've turned out tonight.

Really was a one dayer of sorts as they promoted the womens stars v renegades game a lot, which was earlier in the day 1.30pm start I think?

In a ground that only holds 50-55k.

I'm a sports fan, got an interest in both. As I work tonight, I'm listening to the Sydney FC game, then when that's done I'll put on the Scorchers v Pink Ladies match.

80k tonight is incredible, but I won't say much until it's occurring year on year. As much as I can't stand Melbourne Victory, one thing I can say is that their crowds are consistently the biggest in the A-League.

You've also got to compare prices and games (8 BBL games in Melbourne v 26-28 A-League games in Melbourne). I'm not saying A-League crowds > BBL crowds, if anything there's good in both.

Great venue, product and contest for the crowd to enjoy and importantly the price of tickets for entry are not out of control, hopefully it will stay that way...!

At least one Victorian team lost.

And there will be more in the ground than the gay league's crowds and TV ratings put together.
