Whether he would do it or not is obsolete.
IF the NRL said he could have that money over a longer period of time then IT IS SUPPORTING THE CHEATING.
Fact is that the Storm cheated to secure these deals. The only way to truly make them 'pay' for that cheating is to make them 'pay' for it. At the agreed rate over the agreed amount of time.
For mine I would like to see clubs who exceed the cap PENALIZED the following year with a cap reduction equal to the amount the broke it by (so if we were $25K over this season, even by a technical breach, we would need to be $25k under the following).
And if this meant cutting players loose, those players would still be paid by the club, but forbidden from playing for them.
how in the hell could the auditors find out if the players knew or not when they all refused to be interviewed?

I think Cronk is a solid player, but he is no Thurston or Prince. He is a manufactured halfback who has over-achieved due to the players around him. He is a $300-$350k player at most.
Cameron Smith controls most of the kicking and much of the play, albeit from dummy half. If the Eels board think Cronk will be the saviour, I think they (and us) will be very disappointed.

that is an intersesting point about looking good with the players around them, even Finch looks allright in that side. There may be some disappointed clubs when storm players are placed in a legal side. Look at bellamys record on an even playing field, not so crash hot.I think Cronk is a solid player, but he is no Thurston or Prince. gallop is a legend ...well done i say really tuff to get this right and i think he is spot on.. to date
You might be being sarcastic, but just incase you not i'll say this he's u- turned over some matters including when he stated that under no circumstances will they be able to keep the 4 top tier players and they'll have to at least lose 1.Another thing he stated was they will not be able to take pay cuts. Both those statements he made during the original press conference after the initial release.
They can keep their top 4 players as long as they are willing to pay the 2.3 million to keep him. Its is like saying that we wont be allowed to sign Thurston, Farah and Prince by offering all 3 600K a year. We could go ahead and do so but outside of the 1, 6, 7, 9 we would have the wenty side playing.

I think the bigger question is would any player other than the QLD team and the current storm even want to play with them?
I'd imagine Cronk would look extremely lonely in a Parra dressing room especially after he was part of the cheating that involved the entire parra team missing out on a GF berth.
