HA HA typical Dogs fan stats.

Lets list the whole squad in the take overs 1st yr as BUYS bwaaa ahhhhh haaaa, i take my hat off to Lakemba fans...rubbish, dumb as bat sh*t, but very stubborn...good trait.

:lol: No you idiot I excluded 1999. Last 10 years being 2000-2009. I would have done 2001-2010 but the site didn't carry the 2010 player movements. I don't think the Dogs bought 17 more players then the Dragons this year so I think we would have come out with less either way

Add to that the Dragons have 2 junior districts to choose players from and one of the biggest junior districts in Illawarra and the numbers look even worse

You don't even make sense there pal. Other St George fans must cringe when they see your posts.

And just for a bit more perspective (based on a pure numbers point of view) here are the number of players bought by all clubs over the last 10 years (2000-2009)

Newcastle - 39
Warriors - 42
Bulldogs - 44
Broncos - 44
Penrith - 46
Raiders - 47
Melbourne - 48
Tigers - 50 (2001-2009)
Roosters - 51
Souths - 55 (Since 2003. 86 if you take their last 10 years in the comp exculding their return year)
Manly - 61 (10 years going back to 1996 to exclude Northern Eagles years)
Dragons - 61
Sharks - 62
Parra - 62
Cowboys - 65

All numbers from http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org

Not too bright are you. If you read I said last 5 years and I only bothered naming the rep players.

So you're a numbers man are you? Here's some numbers for you.

Players bought in the last 10 years
Bulldogs - 44
Dragons - 61

I would have done it for the last 15-20 years like your original post asked for but for some reason I couldn't find stats for St George Illawarra before 1999.

And here are my sources just incase you think I'm making up sh*t.

http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/teams/Canterbury_Bankstown_Bulldogs/transfers.html

http://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/teams/St_George_Illawarra_Dragons/transfers.html

Great post.

LOL his response was pricless, dribble that didn't even make sense.

If there was a stat done over say the last 15-20 years of which club has bought the most players, who would it be?

I dare say my top 3 are:
Bulldogs
Roosters
Manly

Dogs appear to be hell bent on buying and always do, which goes against there years of Propaganda being a family club.

For example, in a matter of weeks rumored to have made moves for mateo, keating, inu, and now Merrin and Henry from Stgeorge.

As always they offer overs to get these players, what is it with the mentality of some clubs?
Don't see the point of this thread......which club doesn't buy players?
It's a professional business these days and players are just commodities, you buy the best you can just as in any other business.

No point, just interesting to see who has.

Maybe we can remove the BRED not BOUGHT propaganda the 2008 Wooden Spooners promote
Family Club

If the formatting was a bit better I'd be able to make better sense of all that. How about you give a link to where you copied and pasted that from. Besides it looks like some of those are players we lost not players we bought.

TALAU, Willie (St Helens), VAGANA, Nigel (Cronulla), POLGLASE, Todd (South Sydney), NORTON, Travis (North Queensland)

Now who's fudging numbers?

MAYBEIFIOVERRUNTHETHREADWITHRAWDATAIWILLWINTHEARGUMENT?!?!1!

He said last 10 years anyway, for obvious reasons.

The fact is all clubs buy players, and good or bad signings can highly effect the direction your club is headed. Case in point: 05' when Thurston took the Cowboys to the grand final. Obviously developing the next superstar is important, but identifying them at another club and bringing them to yours can work similarly well.

You're making this too easy. So the Bulldogs signed...

FOLKES, Steve (Canterbury 1989)

McLEAN, Jason (Canterbury 1990)

MOORE, Kevin (Canterbury 1992)

RYAN, Matthew (Canterbury 1992)

DAVEY, Scott (Canterbury 1992)

HUGHES, Steven (Sydney Bulldogs 1994)

GRIMALDI, Tony (Canterbury 1996)

HUGHES, Steven (Canterbury 1996)

TOCCO, Robert (Canterbury 1996)

LESTER, Gavin (Bulldogs 2000)
SOLOGINKIN, Nathan (Bulldogs 2000)

MARTEENE, Shane (Bulldogs 2001)

Plus, it's not a good idea to add Canterbury debutants:
ANASTA, Braith
MASON, Willie
MURPHY, Justin

GREEN, Jon
HICKEY, Jarrad
KOUPARITSAS, Nick

NGAWINI, Billy
ROBERTS, Ben

Makes it even funnier when you add people who left Canterbury to your list.

RAUHIHI, Paul (North Queensland)
SMITH, Darren (St Helens)

SOLOGINKIN, Nathan (Melbourne)

TALAU, Willie (St Helens)

HALL, Glenn (South Sydney)
MARTEENE, Shane (South Sydney)
NORTON, Travis (North Queensland)
POLGLASE, Todd (South Sydney)
TALAU, Willie (St Helens)

VAGANA, Nigel (Cronulla)

Dude, don't even bother. You're talking to brain damage. It's like talking to a brick wall... on second thoughts, a brick wall is smarter.

:lol:This is getting too funny. I guess he might not shut up until we give him numbers for the last 15-20 years since that's what he asked for originally. I'm going to assume LL3 was a St George fan before the merge (correct me if I'm wrong).

Last 10 years
Bulldogs - 44 (2000-2009)
Dragons - 61 (2000-2009)

Last 15 years
Bulldogs - 71 (1995-2009)
Dragons - 92 (1994-2009 excluding the merge year 1999)

Last 20 years
Bulldogs - 96 (1990-2009)
Dragons - 120 (1989-2009 excluding the merge year 1999)

:lol: These numbers keep getting better. Did you want me to go back 25-30 years

This thread brought back bad memories circa 2001-2002 when Willie Peters was our star halfback. Or seeing the flash Hassan Saleh poaching on a wing.
