Bill and Ted 3!

They've got a script, director and both Reeves and Winter are keen as.

Reeves has advised the story is going to follow Bill and Ted dealing with the pressure of having to write the song that will change the world.

I dont know about anyone else but Bill and Ted are my fav characters from the 80s along with Jack Burton and John McClane. It'll be great if they do this right. The last far out comedy to have that 80s feel good/not serious vibe was Hot Tub Time Machine and that was thanks to all the 80s references. On that note... a sequel to Better Off Dead could be pretty awesome too.

There was a reason why Bill and Ted were cool in the 80s. Making a 3rd movie now is a terrible idea

I love love love these movies, but they need to be left alone.

honestly, is there a single f**king movie coming out these days that isn't just dusted off corpse that they've tried to reanimate, and in the process turned into a horrendous turd? Even the good "original" movies of today are still just re-imaginings of old ideas (Dark Knight Rises etc).

Look at it this way... If its shit, dont watch it again

If its good, watch it again.

This whole idea of remakes raping peoples childhood is dumb.

When sitting down in 50 years and discussing the classics its not like you're going to say "Indiana Jones sucked balls because they made a 4th one and the original Star Wars movies suck because Lucas made 3 more". They get forgotten, just like The Godfather 3 and Grease 2.

Itd be like bagging Master Of Puppets out because of Load.

Yeah, you could argue it detracts money away from other original films. But id prefer to see a bad Bill and Teds 3 then another bloody katherine heigl romantic comedy any day of the week.

Who said anything about raping childhoods?

It's just epicly embarrassing that they are so devoid of ideas that they need to rehash 20 year old movies. It's pathetic.

You seen the episode of South Park about Lucas and Spielberg? Common expression now for these classic remakes and sequels.

And I understand your perspective completely. But lets not be dismissive of the issue that Hollywood is a business firstly.

And its not like this has been a very recent thing. Movies have been shit for over a decade now. Think abt all the big dramas from the 90s.

Shawshank, Fight Club, American Beauty, Se7en, Memento, Pulp Fiction, Schindlers List, Silence Of The Lambs, The Usual Suspects, American History X, Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, Goodfellas, Trainspotting, Unforgiven.

The only dramas that I would put in that level since the millenium are City Of God and Gangs Of New York. Maybe The Prestige, Blood Diamond and The Departed.

Alfred Hitchcock, one of the greatest directors of all time remade his own film The man who knew too much.
The Godfather was adapted from a book
The Magnificent Seven & Fistful of Dollars both remakes of Akira Kurosawa films. Star Wars also pays homage to another Kurosawa film.
Indiana Jones films are based off the old adventure shows/films from the 30's & 40's and pay homage to them
Lord of the Flies originally released in 1962
Apocalypse Now had themes based off an incredibly racist book, the name escapes me though
Dracula, obviously
To Kill A Mocking Bird, Dr Zhiavago, One Flew over the cuckoo's nest, Schindler's List, Shawshank Redemption, All Quiet on the Western Front - all based off books.

Some of the most praised films of all time are adapted from books, remakes of older films or paying homage.

Remakes and sequels now are more about making a lot of money rather than telling a story better.

Just sayin.

People get too worked up over titles. You don't see original ideas because for the most part there aren't any left. There's just old ideas with a new slant.

A pre-existing title means a pre-existing fanbase which makes it a safer investment.

For the record, Bill & Ted 3, don't like the sound of it. Don't think it will do well.

I can never understand the complaint about new movies not being original.

You mean on a 100 year timeline of film making, there's less & less original ideas? f**king really!? :sarcasm:

The Departed, True Grit, 3:10 to Yuma, Cape Fear, The Thing (Carpenter version), Dawn of the Dead are some more examples of remakes that didn't suck.

Are they sure Winter will be free? He's been working practically non stop since the immense success the first two movies brought him.
