The Parramatta National Rugby League Club is pleased to announce that Hooker Billy Rayner has been inducted into the Parramatta Eels Hall of Fame at the annual Players and Officials Reunion at the Parramatta Leagues Club.
Billy has been associated with the Club for 48 years, initially as a Player, then Coach and Director.
During his playing career, Billy played 203 First Grade games for Parramatta, making his First Grade debut in 1956.
Billy was a Kangaroo, touring England and France with the 1960 World Cup team.
He was granted life membership of the PDRL in 1967 and of PLC in 1988, and he was made a life member of the New South Wales Rugby League in 1996.
This is an amazing honour from a Club that means everything to me. To be remembered in this way is something very special, and I sincerely thank those who made it happen, Rayner said.
Rayners photograph has been placed in the Hall of Fame outside the Wentworth Room at Parramatta Leagues Club, and it sits alongside other members Ken Thornett, Neville Glover, Steve Ella, Michael Cronin, Eric Grothe, Brett Kenny, Peter Sterling, Ray Price, Dick Thornett, Peter Wynn, Dean Pay, Steven Edge, Bob OReilly, Jack Gibson and Ron Lynch.
The Reunion also honoured those players who in the past three seasons have played their 100th First Grade match for the Club, Nathan Cayless, Michael Vella, Nathan Hindmarsh, Daniel Wagon and Michael Buettner.
