He played very well in the GF. I didn't watch so many Broncos games but in the ones I saw, that was one of his best. I know he also went pretty well in the game when JDB was marking him but Benji taught him a lesson in the first game against the Dragons last season.

I would agree as a fullback he is a superstar. As a 5/8 he isn't even close to that yet and I have doubts he ever will be. Remember he is playing behind over half the QLD SOO pack and 2 NZ internationals.

How can you claim he isnt any good as a 5/8 when you openly admit that you havent watched many games?

Milford started the season slowly, getting used to the workload as a 5/8 took time. By the end of the season he was back to being one of the most exciting players in the comp. If hes not considered a superstar, he will be very soon.

Also worth noting that he is a natural 5/8, not a fullback. The switch to 1 was a temporary move at Canberra to allow him to come into first grade and get used to the pace without being targetted in defense. His entire live he has been in the halves, including u20s QLD and Kangaroos teams.

 is it so hard for you to give credit where it is due and to whom it is due? Firstly, we won that game earlier in the year off the back of our pack and the stellar defensive effort all round. Secondly, it was Widdop who schooled him being his opposite number as well as the bloke who controlled the game for us. This was one of the games where the ball was distributed evenly between our halves and Widdop was the one who came out well on top of his opposite number and his halves partner in pretty much in every major stat. So please, get your facts straight.

I also note you have not yet been on the Captaincy thread to pass on your congratulations to our new Captain. Any particular reason for that?

I thought we had agreed to cease fire on this issue and wait until (..... round 6 ok?) next season? Remember about expecting both halves to take the ball to the line and cause trouble for the enemy defense with their passing, running or preferably both? Of course there are other criteria. In the first half of last season Widdops short kicking game was absolutely outstanding. He set up several tries and forced many restarts. In the latter half the enemy came to expect it and modified their defense.

We could argue about other criteria but I think the most important thing is the criteria I formerly outlined. Agreed?

I don't remember whether it was Benji or Widdop that taught Milford a lesson but I know Matthews was MOM. Judging by the second game when Widdop was also marking Milford with JDB and judging by the number of games the Dragons won, the number of games Benji played and where he finished in the Dally M rankings, it was an educated guess that Benji taught him a lesson. If it was Widdop, that's great.

I think there is quite a big gap between 'a superstar' and one who 'isn't any good'. As I stated originally, maybe he will become 'a superstar' but he isn't even close to that yet in my opinion.

Apparently Canberra offered him a million a year and Broncos have him on the books for 400k...... And the cost of living in Brisbane is almost certainly significantly higher than that of Canberra.

I hope he goes the way of Barba. Get's bigger, slower and nowhere near as good.
