Yeah he has been going great guns no doubt about that but i just dont think he is the type of 5/8 we need, especially at the moment considering our two big playmakers in Noddy and Peach are out.

That opinion does not have any logic.
If Gallen is not the sort of 5/8th we need, then Bird is less.
Gallen actually does pass & passes more often & better than Bird.
They are both 5/8ths of size.
If we don't need a 5/8th of size then a 5/8th like Aitken, Sully or kent(who can pass) is required.

I also have my doubts about the make up of the team.
I would not be at all surprisedto see Gallen in the centres.

There is logic to my opinion and it revloves around attack.
When Kimmorley gets back i would like to see Aitken 5/8 as i think he gives the team another point of attack which Gallen does not offer.
Currently IMO Bird is more creative than Gallen who runs like a forward, which is what he is use to doing. The team needs this at the moment missing Kimmorley and Peachey.

I like Gallen alot as a player but in the forwards and not at 5/8.

I dont think you are ever going to agree with my thoughts though Reefy.

Imasharkie.
Please post any stats to back up your shared opinion.
In particular I'm interested in a comparison to offloads.
Gallen V Bird.
The NRL websites will suffice.
Do an average per game.

I dont think stats shows creativity but here you go Reefy (taken from the NRL site).

Paul Gallen from 9 games has 21 offloads. This is an average of 2.3 per game. In the last 5 games though his offloads have dropped to an average of 1.8 per game. You could make an argument that his use as an attacking 5/8 has fallen and he is there purely for defensive reasons. He has made 3 line breaks from his 9 games.

Greg Bird from four games has an average of 1.8 offloads (exactly the same as Gallens effort in the last 5 matches) with 3 line breaks which is nearly one per game. This was at a time when the team was going terrible and he wasnt getting much of a platform to work from.

Make your own mind up from them Reefy.
