Blake Austin is a better 5/8 than Anthony Milford & Mitchell Moses

To win a premiership you probably need at least two current rep level players in the spine. The Cowboys finally got their 2nd one in Morgan, and they won the comp.

This is a safe argument for you to run. I do wonder what is the Thurston level that you refer too? Thurston's current level? Or his peak a few years ago? Or do you think Thurston is still at his peak?

But I just watched all the Morgan highlight reel video's on youtube - and there are a fair few games in there that I do not think the Cowboys win last year (and previous) without the Morgan magic either scoring tries himself or setting up others.

I think it is safest to say that they both rely on each other at this stage, and the Cows will feel the loss of either half.

The Knights and the Titans should get their cheque books out and enquire to when Morgan can be off contract at his earliest.

I still think Thurston is still at his creative peak, but may just be a little bit slower.

Morgan - 34 missed tackles (FTR)

Another reason I have him a special. His line defence is far above what is expected of most halves.

At 92-95 kgs, speed to burn, great vision, great step, all the toys, I reckon he will be every bit as dangerous if he goes the next few years uninjured as watching Daley or Fittler in their pomp.

I reckon he's appreciably slower. His kicking game is still ace, but being slower even makes his flat line passing game a lil weaker than it was as he is not pushing the defence quite like he used to. His running and passing game is still better than almost every half in the game, but it is slipping from where it was when he had the after burner.

He still guides the team around the park very well too, of course. Missed 66 tackles last year, though.

Morgan has all the skills of a good halfback, Green has simplified his role. I expect to see more of his other skills this year.

He couldn't kick at all last year because he played most of the season with a bad ankle, we saw some nicely weighted kicks from him in round one.

To be fair the majority of these errors came in the first half of the season when he was just getting used to five-eight, but it would be unacceptable for him to repeat this, this year.

Incorrect. He made 21 in the first 13 rounds, and 20 in the next 13, which was only 11 games as both of the Broncos byes were in the 2nd half of the season.

If you want to include finals, he made 23 in the first 14 games and 19 in the other 13 games, so still not a big difference as you are claiming.

How does that error count compare to the others that this thread is discussing. Maybe per game, since Milford would have played the most games.
Actually have no idea how many errors is roughly normal for a half.

Austin made 24 in 23 and Moses 24 in 24.

Agreed, with the pace of a winger and a superior defensive game to most halves. (But I like him wider, second off the ruck or shortside plays at first receiver threatening to link with centres and wingers - where at all possible.)

He still put away 66 kicks last year, many were short kicks where his skills are quickly becoming widely respected.

Coote took the pressure off his ankle last year with a lot of deep kicks from fullback, meaning that JT, while the preferred option at 307 kicks to 194 (Coote and Morgan combined), was by no means the only option.

It's only round 2 and I've already lost count of Moses try assists, apparently it's 7. I checked Austins though and he had a big fat 0 this round

Milfird> Moses > daylight ---------> Austin

Well I didn't see the game last night, cos who wants to watch the Tigers on a Monday? But it sounds like Moses done something. He still has a long way to prove me wrong though.

Then you missed out. Was a very entertaining game. Tigers playing a good brand of footy this year. The improvement in Moses is remarkable.

By time Moses is 24 he could be anything, as of the last two rounds it looks like him surpassing Austin is not that big a reach.

The improvement in Moses is remarkable.

He's got confidence at the moment that's for sure, I like the fact that he went for some risky kicks even though one went out on the full - the only way to get better is to give yourself a chance.

Moses is useless..

Kicked one out on the full and got brushed off for a try...

His other 79 mins were even worse...
