Blow up in dressing rooms

Dufty has hit a rough patch over the past few weeks. This happens in development. Overall he has had many more great games than bad ones. But now fans want to cast him aside?

If you have a spare minute, watch the 2016 Anzac match.

Latrell Mitchell hands us the game on a platter.

He had a number of other errors in his game at that stage which he’s corrected.

Thankfully the 43 roosters fans didn’t want to lynch him at that point.
I wish it was only a few games.
Letting the ball bounce has nothing to do with development.
Dufty has major flaws in his game and is now being tested by opposition and found out.
The custodian has to be safe under the high ball, a good defender and a slashing attacking weapon from the back. Dufty only ticks the last box and it's not enough.
But I am not even saying that he can't develop into a top liner.
The point I made was how we develop these young guys and bring them through.
No one is talking about casting him aside but from my point of view, if there are 3 players vying for the fullback's position, the player in best form should be the one chosen.
It shouldn't matter if it is Dufty or someone else.

Have you read the ‘dufty comments’ thread?
Yes I have and fans want a change at the back and rightly so.
So do I but there is a difference between wanting a player dropped because of poor form and "casting him aside"
I think the interview comments that made their way onto social media, did not help the negative sentiment plaguing Dufty.
At the end of the day, it's not the fans that have created this mess.
They pay their hard earned every week to watch a professional football side represent a revered jersey in this game.
Do you think they (the fans) deserve this and that they should be more understanding or sympathetic?
Our fans are not only passionate, they are also knowledgeable and so when they see Dufty sitting on the bench which was explained by McGregor as Dufty being fatigued and getting a spell, you have to ask yourself, "what the hell are we doing?"
If he's out of form drop him.
If he's "fatigued" rest him.
Don't stick him on the bench and take up a valuable rotation spot.
As it turned out, the kid played for about 60 minutes and was totally embarrassed.
Whatever confidence he may have had was erased during that performance.
Do you think that is the way to develop talent?

If you told continually that making sso is your main ambition and making the semi is also.
Then of course it will sink in weather you intend it to or not.
Just my 5 cents worth

Sammy , as usual your 5 cents worth is actually more like a $100 note . You would know just what the true situation is , but that certainly does not say much for the fella wearing the ‘ COACHES ‘ t- shirt .

I remember when most players had jobs labouring council garbage trucks ect and if they managed to win on the weekend they got a bonus pay,i think not a bad system ,most players wanted to win ,im not sure players these days are paid when contract signed im not sure if thats the case but they certainly get a lot more $$$ guys like Billy Wilson Norm Provan chang Gas Brian Clay ect never stopped trying thats why they were on top for so long.

Your ever so right Davoe dragon , how I wish that we had players of that caliber ( thinking wise ) around now . They would certainly be spitting chips at our teams performances of late and I could just see ‘ little ‘ Billy boy Wilson grabbing a couple of our current knuckleheads and giving them a good wack or two just to let them know what team spirit was all about .

Normally this would be an easy win however, it will all depend on which Dragon side turns up today.

and if duffty was fatigued last week then how is he suddenly right to start today ? would have been interesting if he had of been rested and pat herbert given a run
it seems like our coaching manual has no chapter on resting players by giving them a week off
hopefully our next coach can go to Dymocks or similar and purchase a top shelf coaching manual

I have a feeling that fatigue was not Dufty's problem. I'd say he had an argument with a senior player or coach.

Agree 100% possum BUT as the coach has come out with such a stupid reason behind the benching but no journo has questioned it . There has to be dissention between the players but as I mentioned days ago a 20 year old kid is made out to be the problem ? he probably does have an attitude and we have all built him up ourselves, Duffty is obviously 1 of maybe many that are at odds with others
If he was the only one then he should have been stood down for the betterment of the team ( refer coaching manual again )

Exactly this.
If, and a big if at that, Dufty was fatigued then why was he (a) put on the bench when an injury, (which did happen) could occur from the kick-off and (b) suddenly un-fatigued 5 days later?

With the finals next week, I would have thought a player so fatigued would have had this week off to be fully charged for finals football.

I know it wont happen but i'd like to see Herbert start at fullback and if must be have Dufty on the bench. Altetnatively, drop Dufty out altogether and keep Field in the 17.

Surely the Dufty move last week has to have something to do with the fact that he wants more money from the club.

Sounds pretty right to me ,think he needs to lift his game a bit ,thought he was great improvment from the illustrated man still do, think he needs Widdup to play off kicks ect.
