I don't think how many metres a prop makes is that important, its how he's making those metres that counts
an example at souths a few years ago, Souths had 2 second rowers, taylor and sam burgess both averaging 140m. Sam would take hit ups of the try line, try take hit ups early in the count, get fast play the balls, do the shit work. Taylor would never take a hit up before tackle 3, would rarely take hit ups of he's own try line, ran mainly at halfbacks and all his runs came off fast play the balls from blokes like burgess. Now if you looked at the stats and saw that both players made 140m you'd think they were equal, but I don't think anyone would rate taylor at burgess'es level
stats are always misleading. Even for halves people go to try assists. A half can rack up a number try assists when he's teams dominate. A better sign of a half is how he handles tough situations. There is no stat for the number of times someone like lockyer done the right play at the back end of a close match for example.i totally agree.
as i said, one stat doesn't tell the whole story. they all should be used, as well as qualitative variables to obtain the whole picture.
even metres per carry could be skewed in favour of interchange middle forwards/props who come on fresh at the back end of the first half and may make their carries against big minute yet tiring middle third players of the opposition.
stat numbers should always be viewed with a dose of skepticism. there are always other variables at play. just like how some halves shine behind a pack or struggle when they struggle in origin when taken out of their familiar club game structure.
my post was very much in response to how total metres per game seems to be the only go too stat.

We might not be able to throw a magical pass but at least with Soward and Reynolds we'll be able to kick them to death.
Thats a combination to give some serious thought to. Match fitness and form are a big concern though.

And who would captain this abysmal team?
Tedesco probably proved he's not up for it.
In the meantime Pearce and Maloney have cemented their spots
How did he prove that by having a solid game even when his team were getting out muscled up front ?
Every player play in a team that gets flogged at some stage of almost every year and Tedesco played a good solid game making 0 errors and 0 missed tackles. 10 minutes in to Penrith game and Moylan has thrown a pass directly to the broncos

He was solid at best in a dreadful Tigers team. Agreed. May have let in 2 tries iirc (correct me if I'm wrong)
But think of it like this...in origin both teams are pretty much even in contest, when the games on the line do you think young Teddy could handle the pressure of origin? only time would tell but I think tonight showed us glimpses of why he's not quite ready yet
Maybe next year. IMO it still should be Moylan > Stewart > Tedesco in contention for fb. Dugan would've been first if not for injury
