what are the average metres per carry of those players?
Although important, I don't think total metres and average total metres per game tells the whole story. A bloke who can put defenders on the back foot would be damaging and handy to have off the bench rather than blokes who just rack up carries all game which is the why Gal gets his stats. metres per carry would be a decent stat for this.
I don't think how many metres a prop makes is that important, its how he's making those metres that counts
an example at souths a few years ago, Souths had 2 second rowers, taylor and sam burgess both averaging 140m. Sam would take hit ups of the try line, try take hit ups early in the count, get fast play the balls, do the shit work. Taylor would never take a hit up before tackle 3, would rarely take hit ups of he's own try line, ran mainly at halfbacks and all his runs came off fast play the balls from blokes like burgess. Now if you looked at the stats and saw that both players made 140m you'd think they were equal, but I don't think anyone would rate taylor at burgess'es level
