paul vaughn 2015 ampg - 115

others in contention:

tamou 123 (sharing metres with scott and hannant)
woods 200
fafita 161
gall 198
merrin 159
snowden 114
klemmer 121 (off the bench)

probably tells the story, he's not far off just needs to be consistent for the next 12 months and will come into contention next time round

Not sure where you get your stats from, but Fox Sports has Vaughan at 138 metres per game, most of those games off the bench.

He'd be the perfect bench forward for NSW.

Raiders fans are hilarious when it comes to their players. They're like the parents with the shithouse kid who don't understand why the coach won't play them.

If you don't rate Vaughan, that says more about you than it does about me.

And a Tigers fan lecturing others about over-rating their own players... f**king hilarious.

The NRL app has him averaging 133 metres in 8 games. I hope he does get an origin call up. He has been one of our better players since his debut.

NSW has only 2 options at fullback if Dugan can't play.

If they pick a creatively shithouse halves, then they will need Moylan at fullback.

If they pick creative halves then they need Tedesco at fullback.

Its that simple

Shouldn't Moylan then be fullback using this logic? I wouldn't call Wade Graham a creative half at all, hell I wouldn't even call him a half the way he played there earlier in the year.

I rate Vaughan and wouldn't be upset if he made it.

The fact that you need to make up stats up support his argument and have the worlds biggest sook everytime he, croker, Wighton, Austin etc aren't mentioned as an origin candidate says it all.

The only tigers players who should be in contention are woods and Farah. Tedesco about 3rd or 4th in line for a fullback spot.

what are the average metres per carry of those players?

Although important, I don't think total metres and average total metres per game tells the whole story. A bloke who can put defenders on the back foot would be damaging and handy to have off the bench rather than blokes who just rack up carries all game which is the why Gal gets his stats. metres per carry would be a decent stat for this.

I don't think how many metres a prop makes is that important, its how he's making those metres that counts
an example at souths a few years ago, Souths had 2 second rowers, taylor and sam burgess both averaging 140m. Sam would take hit ups of the try line, try take hit ups early in the count, get fast play the balls, do the shit work. Taylor would never take a hit up before tackle 3, would rarely take hit ups of he's own try line, ran mainly at halfbacks and all his runs came off fast play the balls from blokes like burgess. Now if you looked at the stats and saw that both players made 140m you'd think they were equal, but I don't think anyone would rate taylor at burgess'es level

I would pick Vaughan. Woods and Fifita starting with Vaughan and Klemmer on the bench. Gallen at 13. Backrowers there are 30 who could do the job so who cares.

Would pick Austin and A Reynolds in the halves and Tedesco at fullback. Reynolds and Teddy could be magic together.

2. Johnston
3. Jennings
4. Morris
5. Tedesco

6. Soward
7. Reynolds (if he is indeed making an early comeback from injury)

8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Fifita
11. Jackson
12. Hoffman
13. Merrin

14. Vaughan
15. Klemmer
16. Sims/Tamou
17. Wighton

We might not be able to throw a magical pass but at least with Soward and Reynolds we'll be able to kick them to death.
