So half you lot say we don't stick solid and half you lot say we don't pick on form.

Like I said, it's all white noise coz no matter what it's whinging with no consensus

f**k form. Over the years how many times have QLD chosen players that were out of form? I remember one season where Lockyer shouldn't have been there based on form! Guys like Myles and Thaiday arean't even wanted by there clubs and still get chosen. On form for the last 2 years a guy like Josh Morris shouldn't have been there, I remeber we once plucked Michael Jennings from reserve grade to play origin, Greg Bird is just so average for the Titans yet he lifts every time for the blues. Form doesn't mean shit for me.

hoppa's there to put his body on the line, which he's proven he's capable of. in a struggling side, he's still making significant dummy half meters and creating fast tackle opportunities, laurie's clearly gone for a defensively solid and experienced side right across the park and hoppa was a logical choice for that.

Blues great Brett Kenny doesn't reckon Pearce is up to Origin football.

*If* NSW lose the first game Pearce is gonna get roasted.

Hoppa is not a logical choice for any rep team. He has been picked due to Laurie wanting to be loyal.

Hoppa was great in game 2 last year. Id be very doubtful he will put in a poor performance just because his Parra form has been patchy.

you're right, undeniable rebuttal

You're response was the same cliche crap people always say when justifying shit NSW selections over the years.

"he's been there before" "he has a big body he can do the job defensively" etc none of those clichés make it logical to pick a guy whos form has been indifferent at best the last two seasons over the current Roos winger IMO.

This big body line is amusing. How unusual for a first grade Rugby League player.

Hoppa is average, just hoping he makes his tackles and finishes well. Not expecting him to be dynamic.

the only thing i said that related to loyalty was experience, the rest is based on how he plays right now compared to the options that will be untested on the wing and unlikely to produce hard yards when it matters. i'm with laurie, i don't care if we win ugly and through the middle, i just want to win

Why are Johnston and Wighton unlikely to produce the hard yards when it matters? :crazy:What is that assumption based off? Its like because Johnston is fast and scores a lot he must not be willing to put his body on the line and take tough runs out of our own end...complete shit. Wighton is as tough as they come and a great defender when he was playing in the centres, both big hits and great positioning and reads.

Don't try and tell me he was picked because of his performances, that is just crap. If he didn't play last year he wouldn't be in the conversation at all.

because hoppa does it (picking up significant dummy half runs) week in week out, the others don't or haven't proven that they can. i can understand johnston missing out, like roberts he can go backwards when the going's tough, wighton i woudn't have been too fussed about because of his build and maturity.

Hmm well I see it a bit differently. Ive never noticed Johnston shirking anything but whatever. Hopefully Hoppa will step up in the big arena.
