The Hopoate selection makes no sense, the reasoning behinds he's selection is that he's big and can take the early tackle count hit ups, but if you watch his parra games he regularly gets dominated in these tackles. He is on about an even level with johnston on these attributes, johnston is smaller but uses his speed and agility to occasionally poke his head through and get a quick play the ball. Johnston is a better winger in most other areas. If they wanted to pick a powerful winger who can get sets off to a good start they should of picked guys like wighton, uate or mansour. Even Mcmanus would be better at that criteria than Hopoate.
I think Hopoate was originally picked on potential and now that he hasn't reached that potential he is picked solely on being loyal, its a paradox that lead to pearce being constantly picked during the bad years.
