I don't care how well Pearce is going in the NRL, he has proven beyond a doubt he can't handle the step up to origin.

I understand your point.

But I believe he's been a completely different player post-Origin last year.

He was never playing well enough at club level to even deserve being picked for Origin beforehand. He just got the job by default because the alternatives had been woeful.

But he's now playing the best footy of his career by a mile and, dare I say it, deserves one more shot. Purely because for the first time in his career he's an Origin quality player, so let him now get a crack when he deserves it. Let's not forget he's only 25.

I believe he'd make a great halves paring with Adam Reynolds. Who cares if he plays in the no.6, does it really matter? He runs the ball extremely well so will handle it fine.

Keary is a fine option down the track, though I'd be apprehensive picking a guy for NSW who desperately wants to play for QLD. That goes against the grain of what it's about.

If hodkinson gets picked over Reynolds (the good one) or Pearce, and Reynolds (the terrible one) gets picked over f**king anybody, we will lose the series. Hell even if we do pick the right halves we are still very likely to lose anyway.

I'd prefer they give Adam Reynolds a go over Pearce, as regardless of what form Pearce has been in going into a series, it has ruined the 2nd half of his season everytime. He and whatever peanut they pair him up with become the easy scape goat while the myth Farah continually gets a free pass.

Let Souths have their halfback fed to the wolves for a change instead of us.

They can't pick Pearce again. He's a great club player but he's proven time and time again he can't make the step up. He's had way more chances than any other player was afforded. Choosing him would be going backwards and Daley will lose any respect he got back last year by picking him. They need someone with a bit of creativity now that Hayne is gone so that counts out Josh Reynolds and Hodkinson too.

The time is right for Adam Reynolds...with someone older like a Soward to help his transition.

How can anyone seriously have Tamou in there? He shouldn't even be in 1st grade.

I'd pick Snowden or Tolman over him any day.

Atm I'd go with:

1. Matt Moylan
2. Alex Johnstone
3. Josh Morris
4. Michael Jennings
5. Brett Morris
6. Mitchell Pearce
7. Adam Reynolds
8. Paul Gallen
9. Robbie Farah
10. Aaron Woods
11. Greg Bird
12. Ryan Hoffman
13. Anthony Watmough

14. Kade Snowden
15. Andrew Fifita
16. Boyd Cordner
17. Mitch Aubusson (hooker, 2nd row and centre cover)

The irony.

Over the years I've had to hear every single excuse in the book for Mythcell Piss' failure at origin.

- He's the best we got.
- No other half would have made a difference.
- Smith, Thurston, Cronk, Slater.

Then Hodkinson gets his shot and the Blues win game 1 in Sydney.

- It was all Jarryd Hayne.
- Hodkinson was terrible.

Game 2 Hodkinson scores a try and kicks the conversion. Hodkinson 6 - 4 Queensland

- Hodkinson was terrible besides the try.
- Piss could have easily scored that.
- It was a team effort.
- Hodkinson sucks.
- Bring back my boyfriend Pearce.

Can't we all see that this overrated hack has already had his shot at origin and failed over and over and over again or am I missing something?

How about give the Jersey to the guy who already stepped up to SOO level and delivered NSW their first series in a VERY long time?

We get it you don't like him, the difference this year is that he's playing like the best halfback in the competition by a distance

Still not convinced with B.Moz at fullback - The way I see it.

Fullback: -
Right Wing: Brett Morris
Right Centre: Michael Jennings
Left Centre: Josh Morris
Left Wing: -

Right Centre Michael Jennings and Left Centre Josh Morris?! Are you kidding?! Jennings has played nearly his entire first grade career as a left hand centre whilst Morris has played all his as a right hand centre

No Morris hasn't. He is a left centre but they play him at right centre in Origin to mark up on Inglis. But you are right that it would be crazy to swap them

He's playing well, but by a distance?

Reynolds out played him quite easily the other day, and he didn't even play the full 80.

The make up of the 1/6/7 will be interesting. We got away with having Reynolds and Hodkinson there last year due to Haynes brilliance and the slowest ruck I've ever seen in rugby league. This year there's no Hayne and the ruck is quicker. J Reynolds not being there is a no brainer. The club combinations will be important. I think either:

1 Morris 7 Hodkinson

Or

1 moylan 6 Soward are needed

In saying that if Brett Stewart is fit I think he HAS to be the number 1.

I'm a Pearce fan but he proved again on Sunday that he just doesn't have what it takes. In the last 20mins the roosters had ample opportunity to score and he never looked like setting up a try.

Ideally I would probably go:

1. Stewart/moylan
2. Morris
3. Morris
4. Jennings
5. Dugan/Johnstone/matatuia
6. Soward
7. Hodkinson
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Fifita
11. Hoffman
12. Scott
13. Gallen

14. Klemmer
15. G. Stewart
16. Merrin
17. Graham

I really don't get the Boyd cordner ove, the guy has been a failure in every rep game he has ever played.

I'd like to see Adam Reynolds given a shot based purely on his ability to gain repeat sets. Something NSW has struggled with for a long time and something that has helped QLD dominate over the last decade.

Agreed.

Pearce and Reynolds are the two form halfbacks in the comp.

But it's consistency and longevity that will determine their true quality. Ala JT and Cronk.

Fwiw I think both will sustain their form and prove to be far more worthy of rep jumpers than the likes of DCE, Hunt and Hodkinson.

I can see where you're coming from with the Pearce/Reynolds combination and it'd be interesting to see if that would work with the running game of Pearce complimenting Reynold's kicking game.

I, along with most other NSW fans, have just lost faith in Pearce steering NSW to a victory. The only thing that will change that is if he can help them to victory. If he takes his recent form (Sunday not included) then I think there is every chance he could with the right team by his side.

Alright so I went through the top 25 of every team and went through the best possible options for every position...if i've missed anyone correct me but i'm not going to add in players for their utility value or because of club combinations. Also the order isn't in my preference it's by club names so you'll see the Bulldogs players listed before the Roosters players because of that. List also includes bolters.

Fullback: Jack Wighton, Brett Stewart, Matt Moylan, Josh Dugan, James Tedesco

Wing: Brett Morris, Sione Mata’utia, Akuila Uate, Josh Mansour, Alex Johnston, Daniel Tupou

Centre: Josh Morris, Will Hopoate, Blake Ferguson, Michael Jennings, Dylan Walker

Five-Eighth: Josh Reynolds*, Jarrod Mullen, Jamie Soward*, Luke Keary, James Maloney

Halfback: Trent Hodkinson, Adam Reynolds, Mitchell Pearce, Luke Brooks

Prop: David Klemmer, Aiden Tolman, Paul Gallen, Andrew Fifita, Ryan James, James Tamou, Tim Mannah, Aaron Woods

Hooker: Michael Lichaa, Michael Ennis, Nathan Peats, Robbie Farah

Back Row: Josh Jackson, Tony Williams, Wade Graham, Luke Lewis, Greg Bird*, Beau Scott, Tariq Sims, Anthony Watmough, Glenn Stewart, Trent Merrin, Boyd Cordner, Ryan Hoffman

* = Could be out before Origin 1
