Tupous first attempted tackle was a bad miss chasing a kick which put qld straight on the front foot. Backs that up with a terrible drop in our own 20.

Both our wingers had exactly zero chance of running around someone or breaking a tackle for a linebreak or anything. When Inglis knocked on in the 2nd half and Pearce pounced on it and almost put Hoppa(was half a step slow) down the sideline with no one in front, someone like Johnston would of taken that ball from pearce and run 80 to score, but hey Hoppa didn't put a foot wrong, turned in a half solid plod performance so they will pick him again if Bmoz isn't fit.

Yep Jennings has this series to show something otherwise its time to go.

he was good in previous years, but he can't be as dynamic as he has been previously at club level when you have Hodges defending against you, but at least his defense should have been up to standard.

Tupou is an ordinary dummy half runner, not particularly quick, not particularly strong. His only real strength is in the air and our inept halves can't kick for him so he's a liability.

Like his mates Cordner and Jennings, he fills his boots against poor club sides in the NRL and that's enough for him to keep getting picked at Origin level.

He made 1 meter less then Tamou in half as much time. What else would you want from the guy? The QLD forward pack was already on top while Tamou and Woods were still on, they were tired. When Klemmer came on he was the one guy who was taking them forward even with the slow play of the ball. Klemmer was basically going forward from a stop start.

this is the thing isn't it?

rarely is there a single or two stand out forwards for QLD because most of them contribute to the cause. For NSW it has always been too few making impact.

And what about Thaiday? You just think the guy is finished, you laugh that they select him as their starting right forward yet again, but then Hagan continually devises a strategy to make the most use out of his declining impact. Get him to pick out our small players on the edge of the defensive line, quick play the ball and get our boys going backward on the next play. I have no doubt that Hagan personally wrote 'RUN @ HODKO; QUICK PLAY THE BALL' on Thaiday's fist because he did it all night and came through with the goods.

Seriously, they always manage to use Sammy in a way that absolutely kills us every year.

Assuming Gallen is back, it will be interesting to see who they drop. It can't really be Jackson otherwise there will be no one to cover hooker, halves, centre if there is an injury. It will probably be Klemmer even though he was much better than Fifita

Edit: Forgot about Cordner because he didnt do much last night. Will probably be him

Jackson could be a bench option, but he should never have been selected to start as the middle forward in Game 1. Was clearly the wrong choice when it was announced and proven to be post-game. Not a slight on the player. Poor selection chosen in the wrong position/role at this level.

Agree. The axe doesn't need to sweep the squad, but some players are really not living up to their efforts of last season this year, both at club and last night.

I think Hodko is done. He and Reynolds were picked because they were solid last year while Hayne offered the creativeness. Hodko has lost this one attribute now and is playing atrocious. A guy who brings little to the table apart from solidness and an error-free game, and then f**ks up a penalty kick to the sideline is just unforgiveable at this level.

these were both killer mistakes. I'm not sure what it is about toops, being a roosters fan I see more of him than most and he just seems to loose focus and looks very nonchalant all the time.

that and as others have mentioned he's not really built for origin. doesn't have the acceleration off the mark to combat the faster line speed and he's height makes him susceptible to getting driven backwards. we need some wingers who can get our sets rolling.

He doesn't seem to have those problems at the Roosters. Looks like a world beater there. Just watching him at club level you always think he would crack origin pretty easy, but he's just been disappointing so far.

Lol I always wondered why they stuck with him. He just knows the structure so well and gels instantly with those around him.

Peats should come in if Farah isn't fit but I still feel he will come back, dog Hodges. Peats has been great for Parramatta since he signed there and would be a good fit for the team, offers a defensive and attacking game.

he takes on defenders high up in the line and his work rate is up with the best in the game, he would make a massive difference to our defensive aggression.

Peats wouldn't be able to play 80 minutes in Origin so your team structure would have to change.

Not that it's unlike NSW to ring the changes though.
