Board Elections

Alot of people have complained about our management and coaching staff for the past couple of years on here and over at PI.

Well next month you have a chance to finally have your say with the Elections for the Board of Directors.

A majority of the current board are well into their 60's and in some cases 70's. It's time for some new blood and more importantly some new ideas and direction.

So all of you who have complained about how the club is run, become a member of the club(if you haven't already) and vote in next month's elections.

I personally believe we will see no change under the current Board so it's time we vote for change!

The same old faces will push the same old faces and more of the same and same and same and same.

Sons and daughters of my beloved catchment, even if you plan to vote the same way, send a message to the cadre that you need more than abject misery to furfil your league life.

This is what we had to do at Souths, knife our own in the back of the neck and let the blood run freely onto the floor. There was no other way.

Its sad and tragic, but at the end of the day, there are no friends in league.

Get off your knees my brethren, stand up and ffs do something.

However you vote, do what you think is right for the club.

1 little thing missing there Dave, it's called a "challenge to the board" they can send all the messages they want but the biggest message is a challenge and i hope for Penriths sake that there are people out there willing to dig deep and forgo their time and money to do it as those heroes that did for Souths and Parra.

Daz, do you know who are trying their luck at getting elected? Do we have a list of people?

We need a creative ex-player or someone who knows a promosing junior when they are coming through the ranks. Perhaps some of the Melbourne scouts, they discovered Inglis and Folou from nothing, imagine what they could do with the Penrith District competetion. Come on the largest junior comp in the world and have the lowest ranking Under 20's, NSW Cup etc etc. I agree wipe off the rest of this board and change.

Ok Daz, obviously Nigel Highley and Steve Mackenzie want a change. Can you find out for us who they would like to sit on the board with and why?

Information at hand will get these boys elected. But two cannot force change.

And can you give us their credentials?

Sandy,

I have forwarded your questions to both Nigel and Steve and they will have a answer for you in the next 24 hours.

Keep sending questions in everyone. It is a good chance to get in contact with two men who are keen to touch base with supporters and see what they want from the club.

Alot of the current Board members are in their 60's and 70's and have simply lost touch with the membership base.

What are their current occupations?

Are they experienced in running any organisations/departments with such an important focus not only on the community but with top level organisations such as SANYO, HostPlus etc?

Is it purely a football focus they have adopted or one that embraces the whole organisation - all of the clubs plus football?

Pelicans. The lot of them.

Brandy could play ok, but now just spins what fox tells him to spin.

Maybe we need to go O/S? Sport is big business in other countires. Maybe we need to step outside the box?

Here is Steve's response:

I am employed as a Senior Network Engineer at Optus. I currently work in the Tier 2 Support of the Networks department.
I have been heavily involved in many management teams within Optus to deliver various products and have worked closely with other product teams such as Marketing, Customer Support Services and IT. I also have a strong relationship with numerous vendors that supply products to Optus. So I believe this experience with place me in a position to add benefit to the board.

I have a focus on the entire organisation and I am keen to contribute to improve the financial performance of Panthers, obviously it would be prudent for me to ascertain why the club has been under performing (IMO).
If I was lucky enough to be elected I would need to gain an understanding of any strategic directions / plans currently in place and determine whether I agree with them or not.

What I can assure you of, if I do not agree with or there are other strategic considerations that I believe will benefit all members of Panthers, I will not be adverse to challenging the status quo or questioning management.

After all you must note that it is Management’s charter to run the business, the board members make decisions on strategic directions of the group.

Sandy response from Steve below:

As you would appreciate if I was lucky enough to be elected I would be a part of director team and I would work with whoever was appointed. What I can assure you that separates me from some of, if I do not agree with or there are other strategic considerations that I believe will benefit all members of Panthers, I will not be adverse to challenging the status quo or questioning management.

I do not profess to know how the current board votes on issues as obviously these are confidential but I am confident I can introduce a freshness to the current make up of the board.

Nigel's response:

Currently my career is in transition, I have obtained qualifications in marketing and workplace training and assessment.

I am a former employee of Panthers for a period of 19 years, during this time winning numerous awards whilst representing the organization. Former part time teacher with TAFE NSW. Through my previous employment with the organization, I have a great knowledge of the organization.

My major concern is with the Penrith site and especially the lack of consistency with the rugby league, considering the size of the junior catchment and the facilities they have. Should I be fortunate enough to represent the membership base on the board, as a new director I would need to ascertain the current direction that executive management have recommended to the current board first.

I am extremely passionate about seeing Panthers return to being a leader in the entertainment industry, and over time implementing ideas and strategies’ that benefit the whole of the membership base and community.

Nigel's response:

I believe it would be an honor to serve on any board, and I would be willing to work with any other serving director. Ultimately the composition of the board is the decision of the membership base. Everything that I undertake I research to present the most up to date information possible. I am prepared to look at new strategies that will benefit all of the membership base.

The last very active board election which was 2002? from memory, they had tickets, so to speak, that were being widely handed around via email, pm's, word of mouth and to employees of the club to make sure that those currently on the board were elected and so that ensured some removed that they wanted removed.

I'm curious as to how Nigel and and Steve are promoting themselves?

Also I am curious if the Barry Walsh and co are pushing for re-electment by doing just this, pushing an invisable or visable ticket so to speak?
