The Windup girl - Paolo Bacigalupi (Gritty futuristic world and a pretty good story)
Lloyd Hopkins trilogy - James Ellroy (Of LA Confidential fame)
Shalimar the Clown - Salman Rushdie (Mind you considering how shit Midnights Children was maybe not)

I'd also like the Dogs of War and Brave New World to have films that do the book justice.

Stephen Kings The Running Man done according to the book. Not that rubbish that they did with it. It's the perfect size for a movie as well, approx 200 pages.

Tom Clancy's Without Remorse has been 'in development' for about twenty years now

Wish they'd get on with it

Liev Schreiber was perfectly cast as John Clarke.

Considering it is similar in tone to Taken they could have made a shitload since from memory it's all close combat without set pieces.

Dogs of War is due a remake. Could be awesome. Wish the same people who made The Day of the Jackal had made Dogs of War.

While it wasn't faithful to the source, I really enjoyed Arnie's Running Man.
One of his best imo

there are a few novels by dean koontz which would make alright movies, but they still wouldnt be as good as the books because the books can go more into depth about what someone is experiencing/feeling/thinking

The Bourne Betrayel WITH Matt Damon.

The way the book is written is brilliant, but it won't happen because Damon wants nothing to do with the Bourne movies anymore.

I read recently that he is back in on a new one.

He must've had a change of heart. With the Bourne movies, they can't use stunt doubles for a few of the parts, so Damon has to take a few of the hits himself, which is why he doesn't (or didn't) want to film them anymore.

Tom Clancys, Red Storm Rising.

It was his best book and would make a fantastic movie if done properly.
