this was the inevitable outcome, but still sad to see it come to fruition.

not the most talented second rower in the world, but his sheer courage to run the lines he did is why every coach and player wanted him in their side. The amount of clutch tackles and tough runs Cordner made in his career are insane, which ultimately is also why it’s being cut short.

he is basically the antithesis of Ben Creagh.

Cant believe the guy is only 29 years old. Feels like he has been around forever. After the specialist reports his brain was fine and there was no reason he shouldn't play it's a bit surprising for me atleast.

But he has done everything there is to do in the game and who knows how many more head knocks he could cop without any permanent damage. Im sure Roosters will find a role for him to stay involved in the game.

Would’ve liked to have seen him finish his career on the field and doing a lap of honour post game like many a player have done before him. In the end, the correct decision was made. His career barely started when he overcame many injuries that would’ve ended other players’ hopes of reaching top level. It’s a tribute to his toughness and mental strength which will be invaluable as a future trainer or mentor - hopefully with us. Unfairly criticised by a number of fans but coaches knew better. Good luck to whatever he chooses to do in life and most importantly, good health to him.

With his tackling style it would be a matter of when rather than if in regards to his next concussion especially with the much faster pace of the game. One of the better line running edge backrowers especially those hard, tough lines when he knew the contact was going to be heavy but never shirked it

I have no doubt his family are relieved. Best of luck to him in whatever comes next.

Reminds me of when Simon Mannering retired for us. Again not the most naturally gifted player but one who forged an elite career out or sheer hard work and toughness, but retired relatively early due to the punishment his body incurred in the process. Hard not to like those blokes.

I think Cordner was certainly at the right place at the right time in terms of the club he played his career with. But you can only judge him on that, and he was everything the Roosters could have asked for in a leader in their best era so good on him.
