Although Raider seems to rate Mullen..

Just he thought Carney would/deserves to be there before Mullen.

spot on, i rate mullen highly
but carney is more developed and accomplished player at this point in time... injury and an average game playing out of position ended his chances for game 1, but no doubts in my mind, at this point in time. Carney is the better player.

TBH i have grave fears for Mullen's SOO career if picked, debut SOO player, playing the most important position on the park, at Suncorp full of 50 000 screaming Queenslanders baying for blood, and the bloke has 20 games to his name and all of an very inconsistant nature... never the less playing opposite the best player in the game today in Thurston

lets say he has an off night, makes some errors and doesnt do much which is still a 50/50 chance of happening each time he runs on the feild for the knights let alone NSW, and the blues get smashed, which is imo a distinct possibility... then he gets dropped... cant do a kid with 20 games FG confidence all that good. It could really do some damage to his development. Which will only hurt NSW in the long run... tbh im sort of glad Carney is out of the running, as everything i said about mullen just then can be applied to Carney.

For the sake of form, Carney and Mullen (aside from Monaghan and Canasta) are the only two halves that have shown any real class in the last month or so (as far as nsw go)

If they're good enough they're old enough.

Would you rather them name chokers and hacks as the halves instead deegan? I know which id choose...........

I was saying the farce is more the fact that there is no one better than Mullen or Carney

Mullen has done absolutely nothing all year. Even Brett Finch has had more dominant games this year than Mullen has. Todd Carney should be the one receiving all the press at the moment, but instead it's Mullen because, as one commentator put it, "he's doing the hardest job in rugby league, stepping into Joey's shoes, and deserves selection because of that."

bullsh*t!!!! Mullen is a hack. If Mullen is selected, not only will it show that if you play for Canberra you might as well give up on the thought of Origin because the selectors are f**king blind, useless pricks, but NSW will lose by 70 and Mullen will never be heard from in Origin again.
This coming from the bloke who still thinks the wallabies will win the world cup and gregan is the best player in world rugby...................

2007 Dally M points:

Todd Carney = 7 points
Jarrod Mullen = 0 points

You could look at it like that... But you can also say who else is in your team that could take points :p

Using the Dally M award points isn't going to help any argument about the credentials of a player when compared to a rival - too many variables and inconsistencies amongst the "expert" panel to be all too concerned with the award

Still 0 Dally M points suggests to me that Jarrod Mullen hasn't done anything particularly special in a match this year.

Your post to me suggests you have not watched any Newcastle game in 2007.

So you base the way a player is going solely on the Dally M Points?

I've watched pretty match every Knights match this year, including Saturday's against the Warriors. I didn't think he was one of the top three players on the field, and neither did Greg Alexander, the man awarding Dally M points in that match.

Ok, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt ...

Your post(s) suggest you have N.F.I. as to what you are talking about when it comes to appraising a rugby league player.

Why because I didn't think Jarrod Mullen was one of the top three players on the field on Saturday?

Or because I think Dally M points can be a decent measure of stand out performances? [Note just one measure, not the only measure]

Funny how the form halfback of the NRL competition - Jonathon Thurston - has 12 Dally M points.

No, each to their own from Saturday's game - NZ dominated all but for the back end of the game and Kurt Gidley was the star.

My judgement stemmed from "till 0 Dally M points suggests to me that Jarrod Mullen hasn't done anything particularly special in a match this year." ;-)

A ridiculous post from one who claims to have watched all of Newcastle's games.

Mullen has been playing well, ad he's been unlucky not to pick up points on a few occasions, but I mean I think you'll find Buderus and especially Kurt Gidley hae been hogging most of the points from knights games

So the pure idiocy comes from merely supporting the Raiders then?

If your going to generalise us all for what one person is saying, then yes, I guess you could put it like that.

I for one think Carney is a better player than Mullen, from what ive seen of the two this year, if im an idiot for thinking that in your eyes mr high and mighty tigers fan, then so be it
