No need to limit it to people who have been members for the last 3 years. This limits the talent pool for independent board members. This guy is too good to pass up.

Board appointment of this position is definitely the way to go. First the members vote on whether we want an independent director, then the board make the decision, might not even be Moss, he is just Sharps choice. Maybe other board members will have better candidates.

I'd go a step further and have 3 independent board members out of a total of 7. Places a lot less emphasis on "factions" at election time, and hopefully mean a better quality board. Getting 3 independent directors that are truely independent could be the tough one.

If the motion to allow an independant Director to be appointed to the Board doesnt get passed on Monday night, the Chairman will only have himself to blame IMO.

Seperation of the motion and the candidate would have been a better approach. In other words Sharp should not have sent a letter containing Bill Moss' name or indeed his CV. He should have simply sold the members on the idea of an independant Director and the criteria that will be used to select such a Director in the future. Get Members over the line on the concept and get the motion passed which then gives the Board the ability to select someone. But wait a month or so before selecting someone. What he has done by linking the 2 is to make the motion reliant on people views of Moss - which is not constitutional reform but rather a vote for Moss to join the Board by a select number of members who are in attendance on Monday night.

Could be a 'fail' Mr. Chairman though personally I hope not.

100% spot on.

I don't think factions exist when only 2 board members remain from the previous Leagues club board. Anything they do or mention is out voted anyway because they dont have the numbers. Its a 5 - 2 split. If anything Gerrad may be hold his own opinion making it 4 - 2 - 1. IMO Factions is the biggest slice of shit since Maroubra eel ;-)

I just find it really weird as to why Sharp would be pushing for Moss in particular??!! Are they mates? What's the Connection between the two? Was there an agreement between Sharpe and Moss that we don't know about?

Sharp has really shot himself in the foot. He should have shut up, put forward a whole list of true independent board nominees and their qualifications and let the LC MEMBERS vote.

But if we leave it up to Sharp then we might as well go live In China and Russia where communism thrives...

Yeah I have no idea why Sharp would have even mentioned Moss. I'm pretty sure there would other businessmen with similar achievements lining up to get on out board.

This isn't even worth discussing any longer.

Interesting observations, needs more discussion to get to the bottom of it.

Can you imagine the absolute outrage by the usual suspects on this site if it was Spagnolo that wanted to put his own independent director in the board??? Where is MITS, Bartman and co. Questioning this dodgy move?

Something sus is going on! If the LC members aren't allowed to vote in the independent directors then something is very wrong.

I'm just hear to keep the bastards honest. After all I was all for change in the Board but something smells dodgy about what Sharp is trying to do here.

Probably because this guy is the only good Parra fan we've ever had in the history of the club, and we desperately need him on the board.

Without putting this guy forward as an example of the kind of independent director that could be appointed if the members approve such a change, the useless merkins would just become suspicious and vote against it.

If the members were to vote on the independent board member wouldn't that make them by definition a non independent board member?

It will be interesting to see how the Leagues Club is travelling financially. Does anyone have any comparison reports to see if the Leagues Club has improved in profits since Sharps board has taken over?
