 I was edited, sweet, I didnt mention a name, and either way he was innocent last year anyway because he was never charged, so thats cool... i haven't even been posting a week ;)

Anyway, it seems to happen every single year. Sharks in NZ , young dogs player in Coffs 2003...

Stories every year! I wouldnt be suprised if some rugby union spy at their Wallabies Coffs Harbour training base starts the rumours

( or is that in port macq? ) who cares

I think it happens to all elite footballers, and sportsman ( look at Kobe Bryant ), mostly because some star struck young female flirts with their idols ,and it goes too far ( although its hardly necessarily rape )...

To accuse 6 players of rape seems a pretty unrealistic type of thing to do... 6 players? not one tried to stop out of a conscience? pffft...

I feel sorry for the elite among society having to deal with sick young women crying rape everytime something they have started gets out of hand.

There was the case in UK soccer of six players getting accused of rape in the past year, and the only thing that was disputed was whether the sex was consentual. That is, it was admitted that all six had sex with the same person in the same night, even though the ruling (I think) was that consent was (somehow) given.

I'm not too quick to condemn women as automatically in the wrong in these alleged cases. Elite footballers and sportsmen can develop egos that make them think they are above the law (eg OJ) and do horrible things. This stuff happens, and sometimes it's a fine line between pack mentality and whether consent for one becomes consent for all, or one man using his conscience to stop his mates.

Let's wait for it all to come out in the wash, before we condemn any players or women in this matter?

This is shithouse. We don't need anymore drama. If they did rape someone I want them out of our game. A terrible inhuman crime and another possible devastating blow to our games credibility.

Coffs Harbour police are investigating an incident involving Bulldogs players for the second year in a row after an alleged assault in the NSW coastal town on Sunday morning.

Bulldogs chief executive Steve Mortimer tonight said the club was cooperating fully with Coffs Harbour police.

"Coffs Harbour police have informed us that an incident has taken place at the Novotel Pacific Bay Hotel in Coffs Harbour involving Bulldogs players," Mortimer said.

"We have been very willing to assist the police with their inquiries.

"We won't make any further comment."

The Bulldogs were in Coffs Harbour for a trial match against Canberra on Saturday night and police tonight confirmed an incident had taken place.

"Coffs Harbour/Clarence police are investigating an alleged assault at a Coffs Harbour resort on Sunday morning," a police spokesman said.

"All parties have not been interviewed so it would be inappropriate to make further comment."

The Bulldogs were under investigation this time last year after a 42-year-old woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by a player in a Coffs Harbour hotel room.

The Bulldogs were eventually cleared of any wrongdoing over that incident.

Meanwhile, Bulldogs winger Matt Utai will have to wait until tomorrow to find out whether he is the first player charged by the new-look NRL judiciary.

Utai was placed on report for a high tackle on Canberra winger Steve Franciscus on Saturday night.

However, the NRL was unable to obtain clear footage of the incident today and has been given an extension by judiciary chairman Greg Woods.

A NRL spokesperson today confirmed judiciary commissioner Greg McCallum had been given until tomorrow to lay a charge against Utai.

I'm just trying to get a handle on this, so if anyone can clarify I'd appreciate it.

I heard there was a woman that made a report to police that she was "assaulted" and recived medical treatment. Earlier today there was talk of an almighty stink at a pub involving Bulldogs players.

The query I got is, has anyone actually heard the words "sexual assault" mentioned? Or are we all just putting 2+2 together and getting 5?

Did they say "sexual assault" or "assault"? Obviously neither are acceptible anyway, but a woman getting caught up in a massive brawl is a lot different than a gang rape.

Another thing I can think of is, maybe people knew there was trouble last year. Maybe this year was a set up. I dont want to demean the victim or condemn the acused but enough mud thrown at Rugby League and some will stick. :|

I can't believe that anyone, let alone six people, would be stupid enough to commit any such act after what happened this time last year.

Last years incident didn't add up either, and it was decided the player in question didn't have a case to answer. It'd be interesting to know if the lady in this case is known to the lady at the centre of last years drama. Maybe there's some kind of Vendetta.

I wouldn't put it past rugby league's enemies to pay women to avail themselves for these situations only to turn on the players after the event.

This is all speculation, but it just doesn't make sense.

Just because 6 players have been questioned doesnt mean 6 players are under suspicion. Some of them may have been questioned as witnesses.Eg.What time did player A leave the pub. Who was he with etc etc.

Bulldogs quizzed over attack

LEADING Bulldogs rugby league players are under police investigation after a woman claimed she was assaulted at a coastal resort on the weekend.

The Bulldogs' 25-man NRL squad stayed at the Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour after completing a trial match on Saturday night.

The Daily Telegraph understands up to six players were in the hotel's pool where the assault is alleged to have happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 22-year-old woman subsequently contacted police and made a complaint against the Canterbury players.

Coffs Harbour police yesterday confirmed there was a complaint about an assault which allegedly "involved a number of first-grade players of the NRL club, the Canterbury Bulldogs".

"I can confirm Coffs Harbour detectives are investigating an incident which occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning," Sergeant Greg Peronchik said.

The Bulldogs club was contacted by police and a number of statements were made. However, police said not all parties had yet been interviewed.

The club declined to comment other than to confirm it was cooperating with police.

Bulldogs chief executive Steve Mortimer said: "Coffs Harbour police have informed us that an incident has taken place at the Novotel Pacific Bay Hotel in Coffs Harbour involving Bulldogs players. We have been very willing to assist the police with their inquiries."

According to one Coffs Har bour source, the woman went to the resort attempting to find a friend who had her wallet.

She walked past the pool and was allegedly dragged fully clothed into the water by a player.

It is unclear at this whether there was any conversation between the woman andthe players.

The source alleged the woman was assaulted on the edge of the pool before being thrown back in the water, then pulled out and attacked again.

One of the players later helped the woman as she sought ambulance assistance.

Pacific Bay Resort management yesterday refused to comment on the alleged assault.

A NRL spokesman said if a police investigation was underway then it should be allowed to run its course before conclusions were drawn.

It is the second time Bulldogs players have been the centre of a controversy in Coffs Harbour after an alleged incident during a pre-season trip to the mid-north coast town last year.

But ultimately no charges were laid after police decided there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Those allegations came just months after the club was stripped of its competition points and relegated to last for deliberately breaching the salary cap the previous year.

Chook.

We have plenty to thank for in the offseason. Roosters threatning the Game with the Salary cap threat taking the game to court, Morley drink driving again, now the bulldogs in another Bad news story for the Game.

Personally, This is the 3rd claim in as many years about Sexual assualt and or Rape ( gang rape ). Somehow, i do not beleive that all the ladies involved are all lying. Somehow, clubs manage to keep it quiet and the storyu ends there.

But knowing women, If you mess with the wrong one, she will mess you up. This could end up being a catastrophy for the bulldogs AGAIN, and the game.

Not good. Face your demons and pay the penalty.

Can people steer clear of demonising either the woman or the Bulldogs?

Unless you have some fact (not thought) to add, why not lay off this topic until the police have had a go? They are the experts after all!

Yeah mate unfortunately they have.

Channel 7 this mornign used the word 'rape' whilst channel 9 used the words 'sexual assault'.

I saw both with my own eyes on the scroll bars down the bottom of Sunrise and Today.

A real shame.

I hope for the dogs fans, the game that this is a false accusation, and not just a Cant justify in court Crap that we here all the time.

As i said, some footballers will come across the wrong woman, and she will put them where they belong. In jail.

I Hope if it did NOT happen, that they get off, and the woman making the accusation gets punished. If they have done it, I hope they all serve a long Period of jail time.

there is no excuse for this crap to be happening.

NONE.
