Breakout year in 2016

For Souths this year it is all about a young lad called Angus Chrichton. Super talented back rower that will push his way into the squad quickly. Strong with some impressive ball playing skills. He will fit in comfortably and be our best rookie

I predicted Aaron Gray and Olive last year, while both debuted Olive was still too raw and Gray lost his spot due to injury after an impressive start. With two spots open in centre and wing I will back these two again

Lastly is Cam McInnes. A ton of potential but could go either way. I'd like to see how he goes with the squad revolving more on his play style rather than just dropping in as a replacement for Luke. I think with the hooker position it can take years longer than other positions to really become effective there. It may not quite be his year yet but the opportunity is there for him

Smokey this year is Brock Gray. Brother of Aaron. Big, rough player in the forwards. He was moved up to NSW Cup after only a few games in Holden Cup last year and could press a claim. Madge never rushes forwards into first grade though so he may be a 2017 prospect

The problem with these lists is some of it is just hype. I think some of the highlights might be just hype last season. They probably need to back it up this season. Austin still has me confused. I just don't get it at all. Jake honestly was the difference for Manly last season. We would have been very close to that spoon if he hadn't burst through with a award winning season like he did. The bottom 3 or 4 sides it is really hard to have a stand out player. Take Roberts. His D was pretty suspect a times. He made some great attacking plays though.

I think Moa will have a good season at the Roosters. The Sharks will improve as a group. Picking the stand out will be hard, but they have bought well. I have no idea how much of Manly's recruiting are gold or hype yet. Even as a fan. There are a few dud signings out there. I'm not really sure what is going on at the Panthers. Tigers obviously with Ballin and retaining Farah. You would have to think the Titans, Knights and Tigers are in the hunt for the spoon unless they uncover a miracle or two.

TLDR: That guy from my team.

parra paid good money for him too lol

You know he was still contracted to Newcastle, right?

And despite the fact I wasn't keen on him, he was bought for a reason, and he'll fill that role.

Also, just ignore Rhyno - he's just an interesting character with a unique world view.

I'm going to add Kodi Nikorima to Joe Ofahengaue. Kodi went alright on 15, and he played well for the kiwi side, I think he will step up even further and become a real handful off the bench, the new interchange rules will help with this along with his growing confidence

The roosters took the better nikorima

That they did... :( We had a dearth of halves for years then suddenly Ash Taylor and two Nikorimas pop up when Hunt and Milford cement the first grade spots. Frustrating as hell.

Kodi still got plenty of room for improvement though and might play a bit of halfback in the preseason when Hunt is suspended which will be interesting to watch.

That's alright we have the far superior halves combination so Jayden went where he had the best shot at a spot, and a shit load of money for a player yet to play first grade, good luck to him.
